I PURCHASED A GEORGE "SUPERMAN" REEVES PIECE FROM ANTIQUITIES IN LAS VEGAS BACK IN 2004. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT AND PACKING SLIP. I RECENTLY TRIED LISTING IT ON EBAY TO SELL AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FAKE. CAN I GET VERIFICATION IF THE SIGNATURE BELOW IS REAL OR FAKE? AND IF IT IS FAKE HOW DO I GET MY MONEY BACK?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

DEREK

I'd love to hear from Toby Stoffa on this one.  Ask him the provenance on this autograph.

George Reeves signature is very, very rare indeed.

This thread caught my curiosity because of my personal fascination with Mr. Reeves.  His untimely death is still a mystery and a truly generous man.

Toby's a she, but Reeves is a rare one for sure. I'll upload a couple known genuine ones to compare this one to later today.

Here is an Authentic Reeves exemplar for comparison

I will post more later.

Derek...

According to "The Certificate of Authenticity" you posted, you will need a "certified and licensed"

Handwriting Expert to state that the signature is not authentic, in order to get your Money Back.

I would suggest you check out this Organization to find a Qualified Expert.

This is actually a signature that his Mother signed for him. I had this one listed in my reference library as a real one for a LONG time, but just discovered it is not.

I emailed Toby last night and here is ths response I got from her:

Dear Derek:

Can you please send me any letter of opinion to this effect? Who has questioned it? I see there is a secondary certification from one of the court certified forensic document examiner attached, so in the opinion of this gallery and a certifier that is respected by the courts of America, it is absolutely authentic.

Best regards,

Toby Stoffa

The court examiner's letter is from Donald Frangipani. A known fraud in the autograph authentication world. Ebay doesnt even recognize him as you can see from the letter they sent me below when they removed my ebay listing. So what do I do now?

MC036 eBay Listing Removed: Autograph (468670047)

Dear epetersgolf (erikalpeters@yahoo.com),

You recently listed the following listing:

190526135785 - GEORGE "SUPERMAN" REEVES SIGNED PIECE WITH COA'S

Unfortunately, we had to remove your listing because the following information violates our policy:

"LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY OF THE SIGNATURE FROM DONALD FRANGIPANI"

Donald Frangipani is an ""Unacceptable Authenticator"" on eBay.

Autographed items are unique in that they can be highly valuable and easily forged. As part of our effort to keep the online marketplace safe for buyers and sellers of autographs, we've developed a number of policies to regulate the sale of these items. For example, sellers are not permitted to:

- List blank Certificates of Authenticity (COAs) or sell COAs as stand-alone items
- Refer in their listings to examinations or COAs issued by any person or company included in the list of unacceptable authenticators in the Autographed Items policy.

For more information on this eBay policy and to view the "Unacceptable Authenticators" list, please go to:

Attached is a copy of Mr. Franginpini's authentication letter.

Derek, when you get a chance watch the below video:

Incredible youtube video. Do you guys have other signatures of George Reeves to post? Also I dont care what Toby's COA says about what I have to do if it is a fake. If she is selling forgeries. The Federal Government has there own laws. The last thing I would want to do is have to file a lawsuit. What is the best means for me to get my money back if it is a fake?

Derek, I was curious, who is the second COA from on that piece?  Thanks.
