Hello, do you think these J.K. Rowling signed books are real?  They all seem to be signed by the same hand with the same pen....but was it J.K.'s hand?  no holograms.  I believe the books were printed in 1999.  Thank you.

I don't like these; she "signed" in a weird place....

That's a new one. Never seen an author sign on top of their printed name.  Usually they show more respect for themselves than that.

I assume it's a forger's attempt to muddy the waters, or maybe they've never seen an autographed book before.

It is unusual for authors to do that, but it does happen occasionally.

Here are a few legit examples, from my collection, of odd signature placement:

Those are a little unusual but there is at least a semblance of sense to them.

No, I agree.  To a large extent, I’m just playing devil’s advocate here.

The Rowling — if it’s even by her — is very strange.

I did see it once - on a business card from Michael Eisner. His card had a version of his signature and he signed right over it.
