Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

BELOW: is a picture of the MJ drawing of Chaplin which was sold at Juliens in Nov 2009, with provenance from Lee Tompkins, MJ's drawing tutor/ advisor.

Not a drawing this time, but I thought the 'COA' was a 'work of art'...sadly from the UK :(

The seller is maybe appropriately named pedlarjak, and I think this 'MJ-signed photo' maybe fell off the back of a lorry.  Asking £20 start, but well-overpriced:

(Oh, I did find a 'DK Finance'...selling motorbikes in India!)

Michael Jackson Signed Photo

10 inches by 8 inches - 25 cm. by 20 cm.       Silver Frame with glass front.

That signature reminds me a lot of ones that were at Cooper & Owen awhile back..... here is one that looks pretty similar (altho the M on this one is a bit better than the one you posted) but both are awful.

An old 'MJ Self portrait' with COA from Antiquities International, apparently sold for $8k in Jun 2014 (on Liveauctionworld.com):

http://www.liveauctionworld.com/MICHAEL-JACKSON-HAND-DRAWN-SELF-POR...

MICHAEL JACKSON HAND DRAWN SELF PORTRAIT, DOUBLE SIGNED. ITEM WAS OBTAINED FROM A CALIFORNIA BASED FAN AND COLLECTOR WHO BEFRIENDED MICHAEL'S BODY GUARD FROM WHOM HE GOT THE SKETCH. INCLUDES COA FROM ANTIQUITIES INTERNATIONAL THE FORUM SHOPS AT CAESARS PALACE

More fakery from seller gar_gr2 of Greece, with 'appraiserloft' COA, on ebay com:

Michael Jackson’s 'Self Portrait’ drawing with Hat & Glove
An original drawing by singer Michael Jackson executed with black pen on paper - dated 1985. Drawing and authenticated signature are in good condition and intact.
Dimensions: 21 x 28 cm

Whether it's Michael Jackson or sports autograph forgeries that I expose, it is still incomprehensible to me that these people have no conscience.

For those that don't know - this is the drawing that is in the book "Moonwalk" - (above is what is printed in the actual book)

They must have tried to freehand it because its obviously not traced - its also hideous

I do not believe they are Forgeries, this seller is Gary Van Haas, he was a partner in the Gallery , Author and Entrepreneur. He is around 80 years old lives in Greece, and  I believe he worked with Jackson in the early 70's.

When it comes to Michael Jackson's autograph, the top two people are Lizzie and Wascher.

There is no need for Gary to sell fake Michael Jackson's items, he is very regarded in the Industry. Gary  and his partner were very influential advisers to Michael. Michael did many sketches and some were very fast executed. I also believe the signature is Genuine and consistent with Michael's signatures in 1985.

Hi Giuliano,

The drawing's signature isn't in the style Michael Jackson was signing in the 70s. The drawing and autograph are definitely not by MJ IMO. Gary must have gotten it from someone he trusted who sold him a forgery.

Happens far too often unfortunately.

Steve the signature says 1985, I would have to email Gary to see what he knows about this one. I know that his partner was a trusted adviser to Michael Jackson and received many personal items from Michael, many sold at major auctions. Eric Hale passed away, the gallery closed a few years ago, and Gary is living in Greece.

Now In my opinion these other drawings listed by a dealer in Great Britain appear to be Fake.
