I know the big news is Steve Grad launching Beckett authentication services.   However, I haven't seen any discussion on another new authentication company, CAS.   Looks like Mike Root left SGC and has started CAS.  I saw them at The National & Philly Sportscard show, but have yet to use their service.  I wish them luck, but seems like the market for authenticators has become over-saturated.

CAS is a good company. Steve Zarelli and Herman Darvick consult for them. And Mike Root is an honest guy.

I think that there's always room for more quality, honest authenticators. The competition is good, and raises the bar. The hard part for collectors, at least those that don't study the industry carefully, is figuring out who they can trust and who they can't. If you're just a fan, or buying an autograph for a gift, it's really easy to get burned.

Can't go wrong with Steve Zarelli.

Thanks, guys.

I consulted with Mike Root when he was at JSA and SGC. He's a pro who takes authentication very seriously and strives to provide top notch service. When he asked me if I would consult with his new venture, I had no doubt he was going to do it right.

Thanks Steve, I appreciate your support and look forward to CAS - Certified Authentication Service doing our best for the Hobby. www.casauthentication.com

What do you authenticate Michael?
Sports or music?

Our company authenticates signatures from all genres. You can email me directly at mrootcas@outlook.com with any questions.

I would think that the greatest challenge for a new company, no matter how honest or competent the people are, is name recognition. Even casual collectors have heard of PSA/DNA and JSA, and they are drawn to items with their LOAs. I don't think it will be easy for anyone or any company to breakout and be competitive with those two, particularly now when eBay recognizes PSA and JSA as their two official authenticators. Plus, major auction houses readily accept the big two. Overcoming that stranglehold won't be easy.

I first learned of CAS at the National this year. What a number one class organization. They are thorough, their customer service is the BEST I have encountered in this industry.

No hiding behind curtains. If your item does not pass, they explain it to you. The do not just take your money and send you on your way. Very informative.  Love these guys.  Mike Root and his crew are tops.

Looking forward to using them now and in the future. You cannot go wrong here.

That's good to hear. I will consider using them when the time comes. It sounds like they have good qualified people.
