So I'm thinking about buying this program that is apparently signed by Vince Lombardi. What's weird is that it's on a Superbowl III program, which was between the Jets and Colts. Lombardi, of course, coached the Packers. Could anybody help me determine if the signature looks authentic? I'm not sure why someone would forge his name on a program that has nothing to do with him, but you never know. Also, would his signature still have value on something as obscure as this? Thanks in advance!

I am a little concerned about this one Matt.  It may appear to be a little atypical because it was indeed an in-person autograph.  It is unlikely that someone would forge a Vince Lombardi autograph on a Super Bowl III program.  You are correct about that.  He may very well have been in attendance at the game.  Here is an image of one that was authenticated by JSA.  Let's see what others have to say about it.

Mike, thanks so much for the great info and photo! It has me baffled. I mean, I would love to have a Lombardi auto. I know they're rare. But I have no clue what it would even be worth on something like this, and that's assuming it's authentic. I have no clue what kind of offer to make.

The one that I posted an image of sold for $1100.  Keep in mind that it is not only on a Super Bowl III program but it was also authenticated by JSA.  You should be able to find a signed check for much less than that.  I am still curious to hear what others may say about the one that you posted.

Just signed up. I inherited a SB III program, along with the ticket stub, from my father. He was at the game. The program was autographed on page 55 by Vince Lombardi. From the pictures posted they match. Looking to sell mine.

I agree Robert.  The original autograph posted above seems to compare relatively well with the one authenticated by JSA.

I also have a Vince Lombardi autograph on the Super Bowl III program. I know he was at the game because he was sitting a few seats on front of me and I asked him to sign my program. I also still have the ticket stub from that game, all in excellent condition. I was trying to estimate the value of the autograph/program/ticket. My signature is exactly as the one above, and I did see Coach Lombardi signing other programs that day.

I know why Lombardi's autograph would be forged. Simple. Lombardi is one of my most seeked autographs. You can't find Vince for under a grand and the majority are on checks.
