I had long a suspected that JSA had blown it when I had them authenticate my signed Journey album.

It FAILED JSA Authentication at an in-store at a baseball card shop here in Vegas. The authenticator look like a high school kid who may be graduated 6 months ago.

Always wanted a second opinion but didn't want to pay for full authentication again.

Yesterday just on a whim I sent a bunch of pictures of it to Rodger Epperson to see what he thinks. Apparently from his cursory review he disagrees with jsa's opinion. Epperson likes the LP.

Who is more believable JSA or Rodger Epperson? What do you guys think?

For me much important is also know the real signatures and in different period of an artist... and know also the forgery in some cases...

Yes, learning what the common forgery styles are would probably be helpful. I do a lot of studying, but usually on known authentic examples.

I'm wondering why Epperson didn't think this was team Derek as soon as he looked at it.

don't u mean ….    Don't Stop Believin

Ha ha ha ha ha !!!

Got back to me on the same day

I couldn't find what you wrote him for. A submission?

One thing I don't appreciate about TPAs is they don't seem to update their database regularly, if at all for certain items I have. I sell on ebay and sometimes wind up with higher end items through deals that are certified by PSA/SGA/CAS and Beckett. The item will have the company sticker with number on the item but the previous owner generally loses the COAs and when I go to look up the COA number they don't exist in the system. And it isn't a case of wait a few months. I have one from SGC now updated for over a year. Not sure how old the PSA or Beckett items sometimes are. CAS is getting better with updated but was pretty slow when they first started. JSA generally seems to be updated well.

I'd much sooner trust any members on this site over un-named TPA workers and who really knows if they were just hired because they "just need a job."

And who was the expert who authenticated the Al Ruddy Godfather script as the autograph of Al Pacino? That was a PSA expert. Yikes!

PSA/DNA seems to keep on it pretty well, but they were spotty prior to 2005. They were authenticating mostly at James Spence's location...I heard it was his home...and there were bugs in the system.

I had a similar frustrating situation recently, where I was trying to find an autograph being auctioned in their online database. It wasn't there so I emailed customer service. Customer service tried to find it and talked to the staff who handles that and said they'll get back to me. That was March. They emailed me a couple of weeks ago, apologized and said they couldn't find it and apologized in case the auction was over. It could have been a pre-2005 certification or a fake one.

You can generally get missing COAs and LOAs replaced, I think for $10 + S&H. You have to send them in. If you have several from the same TPA send them together of course to save on shipping.
