I work for a used and rare bookstore, and would love some second opinions from more seasoned eyes on a Mantle signature in a copy of My Favorite Summer. Usually I'm pretty confident with our ability to establish provenance and to compare with known examples, but I've been looking through examples of both legit and fake Mantle signatures and am still not entirely sure what I'm looking for. This has been in our poorly-trafficked rare lockup for a while so I unfortunately don't know where or when we acquired it. We are just north of Dallas, though, and I know he lived there from about the late 50s to his death, so we're at least in the area where coming across a book signed in the last few years of his life would be plausible.

Anyway, here's the signature. Seems to evade the banana issue to me, but I keep wondering about the lack of loops. Any thoughts? Thanks for taking a look!

I like it. Let's see what the members who know Mantle the best have to say.

Thumbs up.

Nice and very authentic!!!

Thanks for the extra eyes, all! Last thing I ever want to do is accidentally sell a fake, but I'm feeling a lot better about this one now.
