Being auctioned. These look like classic autopen examples to me. Or am I missing something?!

Wow. Yes, they’re facsimile signatures. What a crazy auction description. Here’s part of it…

…Stan was so taken with the Beatles' early evening performance that he and the Melody Maker reporter that was in-tow, asked the boys to gather for a press photograph, which the Fab-Four were happy to pose for. Stan, still feeling a buzz from the concert, quickly returned home and processed the negatives, producing two photographs, one larger version, the example we have here, plus a smaller copy. Paul, John, George and Ringo loved what Stan had produced and each happily signed the photograph there and then. In addition, they and Brian Epstein were given the smaller print by Stan to take away, which at that stage was one of only a limited number of press photographs that the band and Brian as their manager, were happy with.*

What an absolute crock.

Even as late as the 80's it took many hours (usually overnight) for a print to dry - in a heated cabinet. The idea that this fella rushed home, developed the photos and rushed back to the venue (how I'm reading it) to get it signed is (the most comical) science fiction for the time period.

The signatures are printed on...these are not Feb.1963 style Beatles autographs...and the photo was taken at the end of 1963...Most of the stories that go along with so called "autographs" are BS...just like this one!

Here's a response I got from the auction house when I told them these were printed on the photo. Others should write to them here: info@halifaxmillauctioneers.com especially if anyone has exemplars of these same signatures on other items.

Absolutely no chance that you're correct - as the daughter who is listing the item with us, whose father took the photo in the UK and got it signed, worked for the Melody Maker in the 60's and was asked by Epstein to be their photographer for a few months early in the first half of 63.

He also took photos of Lulu, Dusty Springfield, loads of people. Again I'm sorry, but you're wrong.

Did you send them another example? There are a few it seems

Here’s the item the auction house is offering:Here are the same facsimile signatures:

I see two different ink colors, or 3... I wrote them and sent them an example of these to make the point.

It’ll be tough to acknowledge that they’re wrong. They went way out on a limb and told Bruce Juice that there’s “absolutely no chance” that these are facsimile signatures.

Well, I agree with the "absolutely no chance" part... ;) just in the other direction! Between Bruce and I (others?) they have seen at least 3 of these (4 when you include theirs). Now what will they say. The different placement is interesting and. of course, revealing.

I would have rejected it purely on the basis that the sigs appear to be fully level with each other and spaced almost the exact same distance apart.
