Hi I'm looking to get renters insurance and was wondering the best way of determining value of my autographs so I can have them insured. Looking for suggestions other than just looking online like eBay.
As a retired insurance exec, I will say you do not always need a “legit document”. For higher valued items, the underwriter will usually require some legitimate basis for established value. Often, however, for individual items valued at less than a couple thousand dollars, you can endorse your policy to add this as a scheduled item on a stated value basis without much documentation. These underwriting rules may vary depending on your tenure with the company, your claim history and even your credit score. Basically, these serve as some basis for evaluating your integrity.
