Last Wednesday I was directed to an article on Autograph Alert that, beyond saying the usual things they say about this site and me, seemingly "outed" one of our members whose comments they didn't like. At the end of the article, they wrote:

"By the time you read this story,
Cyrkin will have the first of a major rude awakening,

one he has invited and is well deserved."

The next morning I received an email from a court services firm asking for an appointment to serve me with legal papers. I arranged to be served this Wednesday. And I had a copy of the suit sent to me.

I have been sued by Christopher Morales, the autograph authenticator I have called, "the forger's best friend." Morales is joining me to his lawsuit against Roger Epperson alleging:

  • libel
  • slander
  • business disparagement
  • tortuous interference with prospective business relations, and
  • civil conspiracy.

I don't look forward to this or any lawsuit. Who does? But I feel it's my duty, and all of ours, to do everything we can to protect collectors, fans and the autograph hobby against forgeries. So, like Roger has, I'll defend the lawsuit vigorously—and I will not stop speaking out.

I stand behind everything I've ever said or published about Christopher Morales, and the forgery industry that uses him. I would be surprised if even one-percent of the autographs he has authenticated are genuine. But this is Morales's opportunity to prove that I am wrong; that most of the autographs he authenticates ARE genuine—and that we are "out to get him."

The truth is on our side.

Sincerely,

Steve Cyrkin

He is Richard, I can 100% claim it is true.  They did their own investigation.

Richard, this is directly from Morales's lawsuit:

"...In fact, upon information and belief, Cyrkin convinced representative from EBay to refuse to place for sale any items authenticated by Plaintiff." [Morales]

I had nothing to do with eBay banning Morales. But I definitely approve.

I just can agree to most of the comments already published here and it is nothing else as ridiculous that the "most certainly" criminal power had been getting so strong and brave.

It would be interesting to see the complete content of the claim and record and safe the many certificated issued by Morales to defense your statements.

Of course I will be glad to support you on court if our knowledge in authentication will be helpful.

kind regards

Markus

Richard S. Simon  "Just to set the record straight, Mr Morales is NOT on the ebay authenticators banned list. "     Yet,  but based on what I am reading it takes them alot more time to edit then most... and as we know they move at the sound of light.

john reznikoff " I will put my money where my mouth is .....besides pledging thousands $ in advertising I will put my first $100 in a defense fund. Who will follow my lead"?  Count me in.

DB...it also takes ebay a looong long time to ban someone off of the list. The ebay fraud and legal team make the decision and they aren't swayed by reports beyond the reports that drew attention to ( in this case) Morales. I haven't asked but I will go on a limb and bet that the complaints against his services were in the many, many thousands and occurred on a daily basis before he was removed. I was certain that the loss of ebay was a major motivator for him to try this stunt.

Steve, as this gets closer, I'm betting that one of the AA crew or Morales himself will make a huge blunder that will leave you in an even better position.
