Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Mack,

Invaluable is not an auction house. It hosts auctions for auction houses and does not screen the listings for authenticity or anything else.

So, get to the ones that are being hosted.  Why do you not Email Simon Parr while he has the suspected items and call him on them before he sells them to anyone? Do you not monitor these auctions for fraudulent activity?  No, you wait until the damage has been done and penalize the person on eBay or Craiglist who is trying to sell it for a profit?  I think your priorities are a little backwards and your magnanimous gestures flap in the wind!

Really?  Your a little backwards assuming that he's not already been spoken to.  MANY times.  Do you think he cares when he can find someone like you to buy them?

Your anger is directed at the wrong folks.  Quit pointing fingers at us, when your the one who bought the items from him.

Presumptuous might be a better word Wascher. ;)

Who spoke to them and why did you not call him to task when he was with Invaluable, who could have applied pressure?  Where are his responses?  Again, I am new here and do not know.  Again, please do not assume that I own those items in question.  I just want to know why you deem items to be fake that came from what seems to be reputable sources.  If he had questionable items for sale, why did you not get at the source of his items, i.e., his consignors?

Furthermore, Lizzie, who is geographically closer to Simon Parr, why has she not, in her altruistic endeavors, taken Parr to task?  Certainly it is easier for her to get at him than us having to reach across the waters to get at him.

This should give you an idea of what you're dealing with:

Thanks for the info.  However, just because you may have been slipped a counterfeit twenty along with four genuine ones in exchange for a hundred, does not mean that they all are fakes, but rather should be closely examined.  In other words, Parr is not just selling fakes and to assume that they all are is a mistake and a disservice to them and to potential buyers.  I suspect that all auction houses come across forgeries and have sold them as well.  I suggest that you try and get provenance for items and try to catch the forgers and not just the ones commissioned to sell them.  I'm sure that most people would try to pass a phony twenty that they were slipped, rather than turn it in to the cops!

Good point, Mack. That would be like refusing to eat a hamburger because the stand was owned by Jeffery Dahmer.

"I'm sure that most people would try to pass a phony twenty that they were slipped, rather than turn it in to the cops!"

Wow.

Did you read the entire thread? He claimed to have pulled the fake set of Beatles signatures on his own after finding an identical set, but later offered a second fake set of the exact same printed signatures. What do you make of that?

Thanks for posting that link. I saw some of that, had seen it before from the name Simon - I skimmed the thread as it went where it looked to be heading pretty fast.

I think my response is "unsurprising".

'I suggest that you try and get provenance for items and try to catch the forgers and not just the ones commissioned to sell them.'

Please don't assume that isn't being done...
