Authenticity is Everything
Roger Waters Us and Them Tour Autographs
I may go to one of the Chicago shows at the United Center, or the St Paul show. Any idea where to look for him or what times? Is it better to check the venue or hotel?

I just watched a video on Autographs 101 on Facebook (not a fan of that site but I read all I can about autographs. Young guy> thanks Roger. Roger >tell all your EBay mates to go to hell. He says it very calmly,strange,this was in Minnesota today!

Hahahaha, good! So many people were in that line for an honest signature from their favorite musician, but so many people were there for more than that. I saw people from other signings I had attended and they brought every member of their family, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren, even ol' grandma. How low of a person do you have to be to make a 70+ year old woman sit outside for four hours in the July heat, in that neighborhood? It's barbaric, and I even talked to this elderly lady, and she didn't seem too thrilled about it -- but she did it because she loved her children/grandchildren.
What about the Craigslist ads people responded to? After getting my autograph, I walked to my car along with a guy who said he responded to an ad for $30 to wait in line, then passed that guy up when someone offered him double. It was bad on day one in Chicago, but the second time around was just a nightmare. The entire back half of the line, no offense to anybody, was middle-aged black men who looked like they belonged anywhere but a Pink Floyd show. I mean, that's just a dead giveaway. If it were me, I'd go the "bringing family along" route, because at least that's better, optically. But, f***, do I hate these people.
Jason, you're cool, but 90% of the rest of that line can get bent permanently. I walked away from getting my autographed album feeling like a dirt ball, a seed, as if just spending a couple hours with these barbarians could change my behavior patterns or something. I now fear the next autograph hunt I go on, as I'm bound to see some of these same people in line. It's to the point where I no longer even want to occupy the same space as these eBay hounds; I'd almost rather not have the autograph, because they taint the experience that bad.
That story about Roger badmouthing the eBay f**** made me smile, though.

See, I'm such a casual, personal collector, I had to Google what that meant. And I still don't fully understand. There were a lot of professional collectors, though, I would say. I talked to a number of people who were there to sell. But a number of "graphers" too, like a little club they have, right? I'm not in any loop, I just like getting signed items that mean something to me. Like Animals means a lot to me, so I have that displayed on my wall now.

Now do collectors really want to buy from these dealers and then have a little racc sticker on the item or coa associated with it. There keen if they do.

I do know without a doubt Justin and Mike share the same concern as we do about authenticity!They do deserve a chance to prove themselves.I wish them nothing but success. I don't know how much most of these other authenticaters are involved in our hobby/obsession. But Justin and Mike live and breathe it!

To me there just promoting this behavior more and then to ask for money to have something authenticated. Cash grab.

No worries man, it was good to hang with you for a few hours. The legit people in the line I would have given up my spot for. But the flippers may ruin it for everyone someday when no one gets autographs.
