Hi Everyone, I’m hoping to get some professional insight from members here. My business partner and I recently came across Two paintings of Mickey mantle by the famed Artist Steven Kaufman. Reportedly both of these prints were individually signed by the Mick himself. I know Mickey Mantles signature is perhaps the most forged in memorabilia history, but the story of Mickey signing these had some substance. I thought I should ask around here first before spending the cash to have it authenticated as it’s in a bit of a rural area. Thanks for any insight whether professional or speculation I appreciate any help I can get!
Wow!! Wouldn't touch them!!
No way. Sorry.
Agreed. The Mantles are both forgeries, no question. Sorry.
Thanks Steve, I thought they might.. according to the story He signed these just a few short weeks after leaving the Betty Ford Clinic In 1994, and thus his withdraws caused the the signature to look different. Shame on me for believing such a story hah! Suppose there are good story tellers everywhere nowadays, thanks again.
according to the NEW STORY..... these were signed by a forger after he shaved his head and started a rock pile after leaving jail in 1995.
NEVER and I mean never believe a stupid story. That's a good rule of thumb. Lesson #1: The more ridiculous the story, the more fake it actually is. I'd say "nice painting" though if the cheap paint had't cracked all up.
Thanks I gathered that by now, Just was from a trusted friend so a bit of a double let down. They are actual Steve Kaufman prints which went for $4,500 each at the gallery but they weren’t properly stored over the year so I reckon now they’re worth about as much as the forged signatures . Take care
