Beatles Magical Mystery Tour set- copy?
There are a lot of great items available at auction this next week and I recognize most of them from the last 20 years but this new one on R&R has got me doubting myself and could use some help.
It looks great but a little too familiar... anyone remember this one that was signed for the boy in the opening scene of the movie that sold at Bonhams like 5 years ago and again at Gotta Have It last year...
Is it possible that these were signed immediately after each other? There are extremely subtle differences in each signature but they are 99.9% identical. I would love to hear your thoughts.

There was a copy of the letter from the original owner on Gotta Have It when they were consigning it for the last 2 years. Can't seem to find a photo of it but the boy can be seen holding up the pad of paper to be signed in the opening sequence to MMT when everyone is lined up in front of the bus for a photo at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay. Would have to ask Pete at Gotta Have It if he still has any of those files.
I was in continuing negotiations to buy this piece for years which is why I know so much about this one. It turns out after it finally sold that it was actually ripped into two pieces right along the middle horizontal fold... you can't make this stuff up!

No, from the way it looked, the sheet had been folded for a very long time and just came apart at the fold. From my memory, Gotta have it didn't sell it and the consignor (from Europe) put it up in another auction last year. I didn't save any info on that sale since the rip was noticeable and I lost interest at that point.

Thanks, Ryan. Do you have a copy of the letter of provenance? If one used the other as a template, we don't know which one was first at this time.

I found the files that I saved from Gotta Have it but they're screen shots so they're very small.

Thanks, Ryan. Gotta Have It is good about keeping their auction images online longterm, so if that piece was at action there's a good chance it's still online.

It wasn’t at auction. It was a straight sale that was pulled by the consignor. Can’t seem to find it

Here are the comparisons and overlays. I didn't change the angle of one of the Lennons. I very slightly changed the angle of one of the McCartneys, less than a degree. Significant changes in angles for one of each of the other two pairs.
I didn't do an overlay for Harrison.

Wow, that’s stunning. Is it really possible for them to sign so similarly? Still waiting to hear from R&R about the consignor.

I think it's extremely unlikely that anyone could sign so similarly. I don't think these were signed by hand if they're not legit, and I feel strongly that one set is not.

I don't see any way that BOTH sets can be authentic. You could make the argument if you were evaluating one signature only (even though that can be debated) but when all four exhibit so many of the same characteristics, as I said before, case closed.
