Trying to work out a deal on the mantle photo, but have no clue as to what a good price for it would be. Any help would be great.

I believe Mantle signed photos are typically selling for around $300 more or less.

 B and W........150 to 200

Thanks James and terrier. Very helpful info.

I agree, $150-$200, closer to $200 if the signature is nice and the photo is a desirable pose.

There are a zillion color signed Mantle photos on the market. I don’t see why anyone would buy a black and white unless there was a substantial discount. I’m thinking $125 max.

Thanks Steve and Steve. He wanted 225 for it. I’ll continue to look around and find something I like that’s more reasonable.

The last Mantle signed photo (B&W) I looked at on eBay sold for $356, and was encapsulated by PSA.  So that was on my mind when I said $300 or so.  I went back and looked at it again and noticed a few things about it.  It was personalized to an individual, it also included “Best Wishes”, and it was an earlier Mantle signature.

Looking at other Mantle signed photos sold on eBay, I noticed prices all over the place.  One color photo 8x10 signed simply “Mickey Mantle” sold for $429.  One sold for $349.  Other photos sold for $300, $300, $250, $175, $150, and so on.  An 11x14 with No.7 added sold for $629.  So to me $225 seems pretty reasonable.

The truly vintage early playing day signatures will sell for significantly more than the 80s and 90s private signing type signatures.  Also, any additional inscription will significantly add to the price.

Perhaps my 125 is a bit low, but this is the same exact pose we see available in mass quantities in color. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around why anyone would choose for black and white with the color option is readily available. Does not seem like a wise  collecting decision.

I agree with Steve Z, and will add that while authentic, there are much better examples of his signature than this.

Myself, when I am looking for a player from a vintage era, I always choose b/w action photos first. For Mantle, there are not many in that category. Action or game shots are always preferred by me, to a posed shot. As we have seen over the years, the amount of quality, reasonably priced, authentic signed photos is dwindling. The amount of forgeries, as we know, are rapidly growing. If you see one you like and the price is reasonable, get it and enjoy it. It may be a while before you come across another that fits the bill.

Thanks for all the advice. I’m going to continue to look for something else.
