Hi everybody. New member here. I’ve read some of the previous posts asking for people’s thoughts on the PSA/DNA Quick Opinion option on eBay. What I could not find is if anybody has ever submitted something to PSA, Beckett, JSA or another authenticatior after the PSA Quick Opinion said the item was “not likely authentic” but after closer review it came out positive. Thoughts?
I already purchased the item from a long term eBay seller that specializes in older autographs and they have a feedback rating well over 500 without a single negative comment. Felt confident about purchasing the item, but now I’m discouraged by the Quick Opinion feedback.

A quick opinion is nothing more than that. Perhaps you can provide us with a scan of the signature for opinions.
+1 and agree - post it.
Feedback on eBay is not necessarily an indication that a seller’s items are authentic. Most buyers leave positive feedback when they receive their item to indicate that they had a positive buying experience. Nothing more.
True, I get this point, but I would think if a perdon has hundreds of positive feedback over years as a seller that somebody would have left a negative comment if an item they purchased wasn’t deemed authentic.
This presupposes that the buyers actually tried to get further authentication. I do not believe that typical of the average person buying autographs on eBay. Even if the feedback is all it seems, the individual autograph is what matters. Everyone makes mistakes.
I’m aware of one instance in which a signature failed a PSA/DNA Quick Opinion, but was subsequently authenticated by PSA/DNA. The kicker is that it appears to be a forgery.

I don’t suppose it was during the transition in principle authenticators, Grad to Keating?
No, it happened prior to that time, in 2015.
Thanks everybody for your feedback. If there is only person who has ever heard of a Quick Opinion being changed from negative to positive after sending the item in that’s not very promising.
I know the Quick Opinions are probably done...well, quickly, but I wonder if they are done hastily too without a lot of care involved as one might expect when reviewing an item in person. Does anybody know if these reviewers are the same people who review the actual items that are submitted or are they “junior reviewers” or some other term to indicate that they are less experienced than others. Plus, I know their review is only limited to the images that are available online in the listing, but when an item is submitted isn’t that reviewed with more scrutiny to look at the age of the ink or that paper used? Also, do these companies take into consideration that a persons autograph may change over time? I’ve seen different types of Hank Aaron signatures and Ton Brady signatures over the years.
To me, a Quick Opinion rules out the obvious forgeries and known preprints. It is up the consumer in my opinion to check live ink and all before a QO. To me, a positive QO indicates something that deserves a closer look - nothing more at all.
I would never bother with any of this - one main area of interest for me is Jackie Gleason. about half the exemplars of Jackie Gleason signatures at his PSA are simply secretarials and forgeries...
