+1 Well said.
Seems as though I disagree with some/most of the Community but I will agree that this has been a very passionate topic, I also want to let the community know I do value and respect each and every members opinion, with that being said I will also conclude that I will continue to use my own best judgment on any and all purchases but if and when i need professional assistance I will not be hesitant to contact a TPA for there assistance, as well as this forum for theirs , if there is a discrepancy between forum and TPA like this matter here i will lean towards the tpa especially if they have a solid repetition, that in no way undermines how valuable and talented the members on this forum has been and will continue to be, it’s only my opinion and I stand by it.

Ru007, a rule of thumb most of us follow is not to buy autographs where authenticity is controversial.
Why the animosity?.....What the hell?...c'mon folks....take a pill...relax. This is turning into..."I'm right...your wrong!!!" No need to get nasty people!!! Thank You!!!
where is the animosity to which you are referring? This is a good discussion with varying view points and no one is showing disrespect, despite being accused of it. Where is anyone saying or even implying "Im right you're wrong"?
..."So yes, ordinary people who have a signatures hobby can't wake up one morning and challenge them..."
I will disagree. I am sure some have and changed some minds as well. Collecting is a collective effort when at its best IMO. Everyone can bring something to the table. That is the beauty of this site.
+1 There is a LOT of cumulative knowledge here!
I will add, I still have faith and respect in Caiazzo, Perry Cox, Tracks, and Roger Epperson when it comes to authentication opinions.
I do also have an enormous respect for collectors who take the time to study the signatures too and who also have devoted countless hours looking at many examples across many years that artist was signing. There are people on AML I would not hesitate to ask opinions of before I made a purchase and feel as comfortable with their opinions as WELL, because I know they take this seriously.
That includes members (but not limited too) like Eric with David Bowie, Seamus (Corey) with Pink Floyd, Washer with MJ, Richard Booth with Elton, and Ballroom with many signatures like the Ringo and Pauls discussed here.
I think it is great to have discussions here like this, I don't think it is fair however to discount evidence presented just because an item already has an LOA. An LOA doesn't automatically make something real.
No ones opinion is holy, I am sorry, we are all human here. Unless you saw it visually signed in front of you, there will always be a small chance something isn't right and even if you have a 99% rate of success...There is still going to be that one time out of 100 that you might have made a mistake.
This doesn't make me feel any less value in their opinion. I don't find it to be malicous...Just human, but I think we need to open our eyes more to accepting we all need to keep asking questions and educate ourselves and not simply rely on a piece of paper alone like it is the bible.
+1 (esp LOA's & "holy") and thanks for the nice words. :)
As active collectors, we sometimes have the luxury of figuring things out over time. We discover things in the process of trying to build our collections, and have time to put the pieces together. We aren’t presented with a signature and limited amount of time to either issue an LOA or not. Otherwise, similar to what Steve said, I probably would have been okay with some of the Ringos and Pauls involved in this issue.
one of the earlier comments supporting the authenticity was that it appeared to be a "rushed" example. If you look at just one example, that could very well be the case. But when you see a bunch of them that are virtually technically all the same, the "rushed" theory kind of goes out the window. The ones that Ballroom showed were almost all cookie cutter versions of each other. That is not typical with any "rushed" style, or really, any authentic versions.
Ballroom has made a superb case on these Ringo signatures. I've come trust Mark's opinion when it comes to Beatles autographs which, in no way, reflects negatively on the respected experts who deserve every accolade they have earned. These Ringo's, at best, are questionable to a point most experienced collectors would probably pass on them. I know I would. Especially now.
One question, did we forget there was also a Paul McCartney signed CD in this discussion as well?
