Many movie and television stars appeared as guest stars (though they were never referred to as such on the show) on TAGS. Among the stars that were on the show were Buddy Ebsen, Charlie Ruggles, Edgar Buchanan, Everett Sloane, Alan Hale, Jr., Bob Denver, John Dehner, Jack Albertson, Leon Ames, and many others who appeared as "guest stars" on an episode of TAGS. I also remember him in a Columbo episode and the movie Airplane. He had that great face.
And Woody Strode; a strong actor.
TREVOR BARDETTE (1902-1977) was a rare character actor that could play a sheriff or lawman in one film and a blackhearted villain in the next. Best known for old "oaters," he also did horror, sci-fi, drama, and comedy. He did multiple episodes of Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Have Gun Will Travel, and Lassie. He portrayed Julius Ceasar in a memorable episode of The Adventures of Superman , one of two he did. Bardette had the recurring "Old Man Clanton" role in The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp. He appeared in episodes of My Favorite Martian, The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, Flipper, The Untouchables, and many more. On TAGS Bardette was the second man to play "Wally" the owner of the town's gas station. Norman Leavitt appeared as "Wally" twice before, and Cliff Norton later on. Bardette is not an easy autograph to find.
TREVOR BARDETTE. Besides dozens of westerns, his movies included the gripping Paul Newman film The Rack (1956), playing the Court President at the court martial. He also was in one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies, The Monolith Monsters (1957), as Professor Arthur Flanders.
He always looked great in a military uniform.
He was very distinguished looking so in later years played a lot of authority figure roles. I liked him as the professor in THE MONOLITH MONSTERS. He was also great as the patriarch of the Clanton gang in The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.
He had that very sincere and convincing face.
RICHARD VATH (1925-2005) is best known for the Sci-Fi movie Creation of the Humanoids in 1962. He also had a part in the classic When Worlds Collide in 1951. The following year he had a role in the Cold War thriller Red Snow. His television work included five episodes of the western Death Valley Days, including starring in the season seven episode "The Newspaper That Went to Jail" in 1959. His 35-year acting career included television shows like Sky King, Ben Casey, Highway Patrol, Navy Log, Harbor Command, Hunter and The Scarecrow, and Mrs. King. Vath also appeared in a 1965 episode of the classic comedy Bewitched. His appearance on The Andy Griffith Show occurred in season two. Playing the beleaguered attorney for an insufferable Mr. Jackson played by the great Roy Roberts. Vath's career as one of those stalwart supporting players meant few autograph hounds tried very hard to seek him out. John Verzi was one of those, and this one was from an equally determined New York in-person collector.
ROY JENSON (1927-2007) was a prolific actor and stuntman appearing on scores of television shows and movies. Jenson was one of those faces you recognized but did not know the name of. He often played a policeman or authority figure. Jenson was in shows such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Wild, Wild West, The Outer Limits, Batman, Little House on the Prarie, and many more. He was in movies such as Chinatown, Soylent Green, 13 Ghosts, Apache Uprising, and several others. He played State Trooper Leroy Miller in the 1967 TAGS episode "Andy's Investment." This is a Star Trek Original Series A57 autograph card from when he played "Cloud William." These are great but are getting expensive.
TOM D'ANDREA (1909-1998) was one of those familiar faces on almost every show. He appeared on The Addams Family, The Danny Thomas Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, That Girl, and Green Acres. D'Andrea is probably best remembered for his recurring role as "Jim Gillis" in the William Bendix comedy television show The Life of Riley. He also was active in movies such as Humoresque, Dark Passage, and Kill the Umpire (with William Bendix). He was in the TAGS episode "A Singer in Town" as George Stone. This is a 4x6" white index card from the John Verzi in-person collection.
