If a local store didn't have it, were you planning to take a long drive? I wonder if they'd ship it.

I spent the past 2.5 hours driving around to different stores. The store that held it for me seemed clueless about it, but the other 3 straight up said it was first come first serve / no holds. So I doubt they'd ship but it is worth a shot calling other stores probably. All 4 that said they had only got 1 in.

But this makes me think that B&N must have gotten a fair amount if 4 copies were just in my area. So its not unreasonable to think maybe BAM did actually get their 100 that they ordered. But seems less likely as more time passes.

Not that it matters but in case anyone is keeping track I just noticed that the isbn on the B&N copies seems to be different than the ones sold at indie stores (as well as the listings on Indigo and Amazon). It is 9780593537299 which matches what BAM has them listed as.

Just got and opened mine from B&N, One blue pen and one black pen. No stickers or really anything else to say they are signed.

the ISBN on the wrap is 9780593537299 while the box itself is 9780593536049

I stopped into my local B&N.  They said that they got one and it was gone.

I was atleast glad to hear they got one.

This was the same B&N that mixed their signed Surrender books in with the normal editions (luckily for me), but this time they knew what they had and staff knew that it was sold.

Any thoughts on whether opening the shrink wrap will decrease resale value at all? Ordinarily, I would expect people to want a sealed product. But in this case, maybe future buyers would prefer the shrink wrap to be opened so that the signatures can be confirmed.

I also wonder if the shrink wrap could have any negative impact on the books in the future (e.g., due to moisture or something).

I'm not a book collector but if I was a fan and wanted his autograph, I would not purchase anything sealed on the secondary market. I bought a few Thom Yorke signed books from Ebay  about a year ago and there were a few options selling them as sealed. I did not even consider them. Only focused on the ones with visible signatures. The only sticker on the shrink wrap is a different UPC code correct? I myself, would open this but slice the shrink wrap carefully and keep it somewhere safe. Do not discard it. UPC stickers can always be reproduced. Books can be re - shrink wrapped so I could never trust a sealed item but I would still like to have the plastic it came in as long as there is a sticker on it. I imagine, even if I WAS a book collector, I would still not trust a sealed copy but I'm sure others on here may feel different.

I'm also not a reseller so it would drive me crazy to keep an item like this in my collection that I couldn't enjoy, even if just to slightly open to glance at the signature a few times a year

I actually sold one (I know I’m the devil!) anyway I asked the buyer if they wanted me to open and they were steadfast about not unsealing it so if I were selling more I’d be nervous about opened shrink wrap books

very interesting. just curious though, do you feel you would have sold your item for the same amount had it been opened?

No i very much doubt it.

I am still waiting for "Born For This Moment (Autographed Gold Vinyl)" by Chicago for their signed insert from TalkShopLive which came shrinkwrap.  TSL promised me it is on its way.  So if I am buying this book from you and it is is shrinkwrapped and NOT signed, that would be a problem.  I would rather see what I am buying. Get my point?

I wouldn't be comfortable as a seller either. If you want to make the big bucks on a sealed item it's unlikely you'll find a local buyer. The buyer could claim they received the item unsigned even if that wasn't the case and claim their money back.

I know situations where buyers buy sealed figures and claim the figures arrived broken, only the broken parts they photographed are covered in dust and have clearly been in their collection. But eBay, Paypal and the CC companies heavily favor the buyer.
