I've been noticing some buzz around people wanting to trade signed albums.
I think it's a great idea. What about starting a "TRADES" discussion?
I for one have a few things I would trade for copies of other albums I missed out on.
This Green Bay one would be a start as I was lucky enough to get a second copy.
What does everyone out there think? People could list what they have to trade and what they're looking for. Books, vinyl, cds... It would be a good way of expanding everyone's collection.
Just a thought.
Cheers and happy Sunday!!

I would be in too but I am not sure we are allowed. When it's been brought up in the past people were told to take it private. May want to verify with an admin.
The problem with such a proposal - as I see it - is that this site is intended as a safe haven for collectors and not so much a source of acquisitions. Once you introduce filthy commerce to it, unless each and every "trade" is open to examination by all members and meets with unanimous approval then you are potentially "tainting" the site by reputation. "Unanimous approval" is a pretty scarce commodity, even here.
If members of the forum were to be perceived in any way to be promoting their own agendas with appraisals then it get's confusing.
I don't wish to speak for Steve - am sure he will chip in as necessary - but maybe if there was a thread called - Take Your Chances: Autograph Live is NOT Responsible for your TRADE! - that might work....
What you do privately is your/my own business but having a group activity on this forum with a potential for people to be taken advantage of does not sit well with its aims, really - is what I mean.
I'm kind of with this. One thing we really can't do is facilitate or mediate the transactions. I'm sure Steve will chime in, but this one has always been a shrug for me. As long as it didn't lead to any uptick in drama or controversy, I suppose it might be fine. There had been a buy/sell/trade group for a while, though I think it had its limitations.
agree
Green Day? Or Green Bay packers or something?
Over the years, I've had a few instances buying on the secondary market and having to fight from not receiving what I expected. Usually it turned out to be preprinted but in some cases I received a different unauthentic autograph than was pictured. This was not an issue at all dealing with PayPal and eBay. Many sellers refunded before action was even needed anyways, but I did have a few that required action.
There are a bunch of members on here I would absolutely trust to make a trade through mail but in-person would always be the preferred method. I just can't imagine if a mistake was made. Trying to exchange items back would be a waste of money and time and probably an arguement. Im 50/50 on this myself but would only attempt it with longtime members who I have previously communicated with.
It would be great if there were some kind of moderation but how would that work? Mail both items to a trusted middleman to be checked out before being sent on? I can't imagine anyone would want to do that for free but a system like that would provide protection dealing with the newer members and everyone in general. It just seems easier to buy what you missed on ebay in most cases
The only way I see it working is if there's a middleman involved and of course there's some people i trust on here aswell. Maybe there could be a thing where your account has to be certain amount of days or months old before you can do so. Just an idea i had while reading it, other places have this feature.
Over the years, I’ve accumulated extra signed cds as well.
I’m in.
