Autograph Authentication Services I can trust, are there any?

Hello everybody. New member here, first post. I have a feeling my question has been asked 100 times before, but I couldn't find a search function.

I'm in need of a Autograph Authentication Service that is trustworthy. The item to be authenticated is a movie poster with 10+ signatures on it, modern era Hollywood actors (1980's). I did not obtain the signatures myself, I bought the poster from a company.

I've heard that PSA/DNA are not to be trusted. Dito JSA. I was about to mail my poster to PAAS (Professional Autograph Authentication Service), then somebody said I couldn't trust them either, that they would pretty much say any item they receive is genuine just as long as they get paid.

I'm not planning on selling my signed poster, so I don't need any phony "seal of aproval" to show any prospective buyers, I want to have it authenticated for my own sake from someone who is an expert on autographs, so I can be at least 90 percent sure that the item is not a forgery.

As it is today, I'm not certain at all, and that is the worst feeling in the world.

Psa Dna is the best and What you hearld is bullsh_t!!! i have been burned for three bad items. But unless u are there in person.....psa dna is your best bet.

I understand it all comes down to opinions on whether an item is real or a forgery. After all, only two people will ever know the truth; the celebrity and the person who got the signature. But an opinion from a professional autograph authenticator would make me feel better than just to accept the good word from the seller.

Of course the particular item that made me join the Autograph Magazine Live forum in the first place turned out to be fake, but it's good to know PSA/DNA and JSA are competent companies if I should ever need their services in the future.

I am sorry for what you have heard about P.A.A.S.

P.A.A.S. as with JSA and PSA/DNA, you have to be careful with what you hear and whom you are hearing these statements from. Many of the negative comments are often used by dealers and collectors that were not happy by a decision by the authentication services or by dealers or others with hidden agendas.

It is not at all true that P.A.A.S. will say anything is genuine, as long as we get paid. In fact at this P.A.A.S. has only been able to certify as authentic about 40% of the items submitted for examination.

David, I would be glad to try to help you without any cost if you would post an image of the poster that you are interested in having examined.

Hello Mr Frost, I didn't know you were a member :)

The bad things I heard about PAAS was of course from someone outside this forum, and that person obviously had some sort of personal issues or grudge with your company. I heard it right before joining Autograph Magazine Live, and since joining the forum I have done more research and is now a little wiser about the autograph business, what to look for and who to listen to.

Thanks for the info on PAAS, I'll remember that the next time I need something authenticated. Unfortunately the item mentioned in this discussion has since been found to be a forgery, but I will most likely be in aid of your services in the future with other items.
