Johnny Depp, too good?

I recently purchased this piece from a reputable dealer. I thought it looked good, but now I'm wondering if maybe it's TOO good?

For me, a Depp autograph often looks like it's been signed by a child, like if a child imagined what a big dramatic signature would look like and then drew it with a crayon.

This piece, it's like a grown-up is imitating what the child drew.

Also, the long vertical line always featured in a Depp signature; usually it's not connected to anything. Sometimes it just stops on top of one of the strokes made down below, but it usually is separate from the main signature. Here it actually joins with the signature in the "three leaf clover" in the middle. I've never seen that before. Also, I've never seen any pen strokes go through the bottom of the clover before.

Any thoughts?

I have hundreds of IP Johnny Depp examples from about the last 10 years or so and there are several traits that he always has. They are missing in this item. As its a Pirates shot that sort of eliminates the excuse that its an older signature. IMO it is likely not authentic. Maybe someone else has seen him sign like this?

I wonder where you purchased it? There are a lot of so called 'reputable' dealers that have no idea what they are doing with modern celebrities and have bad suppliers that they erroneously trust. In this case the source will also provide a sort of second opinion.

I'm getting so god damn tired of this autograph b*******. Once I'm finished with my list of names I want, I'll never EVER buy another autograph. This whole business is a joke!

I got it from Ken Mills at Writestuff Autographs, a personal friend of Jason Thanos'.

I was under the impression that Writestuff was pretty solid overall, but I know very little about Depp's signature.

That being said, I make very few purchases from dealers like this since I tend to play it more safe, unless the item I'm butyng is something I can identify as authentic based on my own knowledge. There are some really safe avenues for purchasing authentic autographs, and I don't consider most traditional autograph dealers to fall into that category. For the most part, I have no idea who they are trusting, who they work with, how cautious or competent they are, etc.

Yes, Writestuff is good, but I think he got this piece from a third party, not IP. And whenever that's the case you have to be extra careful, which I wasn't.

The other day you questioned another dealers depp , is what you think a in person depp should look like . Cause it is not good imho . I ll post some in person ones from the last decade tonight .

Another thing about this depp , is it could a ttm . You should ask its orgin . Cause the ttm look like this , but usually have a personalaztion . Or dedication.

Also Ive heard the ttm are secreterial . Those are the ones mailed to production offices when he is filming

David you don't have to worry I am sure you can get a full refund on the item like Anthony was saying you should just ask Ken about the details on the item.
