We now have a Musician-Direct Autograph Sales Forum where you can post individual discussions of new offerings. It's a big change—and a big improvement. We closed this discussion after 8 years but it will always be available to read.

The new system has been in place for 2 months now and it's working well.

This video shows you how easy the new forum is to use.

You can follow the forum and be notified of new signings exclusively! And you can enter a musician's name in the forum's search box and find any discussions about them.

Be sure to click the Follow link at the bottom of the list of discussions.

Try it...I think you'll like it.

Though I recall a member posting a blog asking about this a while ago, I could not relocate it for my purpose in this discussion.

It can be nice when one stumbles upon a musician's shop (via their website), to see that they are selling their autographs. I figured this could grow as a wee database for listing those musicians who partake in this.

I recently recieved a couple press photos signed in ballpoint from John Mayall's website (http://www.johnmayall.com/merch.html). I am also aware that you can purchase signed CDs from Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits(http://peternoone.com/store/). John 5 ( formerly Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie guitarist) sells various items signed, with an option to dedicate.

So, does anyone else know of this being done by other musicians?

For everyone's clarity, I posted the Weezer link on RACC. I was notified of it at night but waited and didn't post til the next day and did so deliberately as I haven't had time to add here lately. When I update the names of the CDs on RACC I post the links of ones missing here and that's been several. Last time this was brought up that RACC ruined one of the presales you were wrong as hours later they were still in stock. I also started the Celebrity version of this thread here as well. To me this is a great win/win as we are exchanging information and each supporting the hobby in our own ways. Considering most of these signings are 5 per max let's be real by saying neither this site or RACC is going to eat them all up. The fact remains there's been valuable information shared/discussed in RACC that benefit countless collectors so to the gentleman who posted otherwise I respectfully disagree. In person tips, discounted supply links, Third Party discussions, suggested markers, tips for removing stray marks on photos, insurance company recommendations, where to order photos, consignment opportunities, trades, signings, and so much more. In addition the group is heavily policed so items posted by anyone are extremely scrutinized by guys with decades of in person experience. If you find no value as a collector I can't help but wonder why you're still a member but regardless I know tons of collectors who have grown their collection and expertise in this hobby because of it. This is honestly silly.

I don't use facebook, so I'm glad the guys fill me in on violent femmes and weezer etc.

ehhh.. I don't think you are looking at this from a collector's perspective.  When they release these things there are only 200-500 typically available.  I found this forum  which I found really quite helpful and then someone from RACC came on and mentioned the fb page which I do find helpful for some things.. getting autographs at an affordable price isn't one of them.  There is a great mix of people on RACC but listing the few opportunities collectors have to get their hands on signatures straight from the artist where people openly buy them just to resell is bound to rub collectors the wrong way.  When I post stuff i've found on here it's actually after quite a lot of internet searching and routinely checking sites that are known to have autographed merch... i'm not doing it to help people make more money.. which is why I initially asked that when something is posted on here it be given 24 hours before being posted on RACC so the collectors get a chance at it first.

I am looking at this from a dealer, collector, and hobbyist standpoint.  The reality is the chances of one of these posts selling out because of RACC is slim to none and the amount of posts shared here which originate from RACC will certainly make up for that potential but unlikely scenario.  This site, as well as RACC was created to grow this hobby and keep it exciting.  To prove my point....Weezer is still available.

I agree with you here Michael. I can't see where the problem is. It's a free world, it's not that the info about signed stuff in artists websites should exclusively belong to AML. I love the info on RACC, I love the info here. And yes, prices on RACC are sometimes high and there is a lot of selling on it but I can't see a problem with that. No one forces you to buy something. If you don't like it, just stay away. I made some good deals already on RACC and on here too.
Just joined the new group here from Michelle, the more sources the better :-).

They banned me from RACC because I apparently showed "animosity towards dealers" by sticking up for collectors here.

Please get honest Mike.  You tried to slander one of the admins here with false accusations which was why you were removed. A guy that volunteers hours of his time to make sure RACC is a safe place to buy as well as provides top content for everyone to enjoy, free authentication advice, tips, the list goes on.  You had no actual facts or evidence to your accusations, never took time to confirm any of this was accurate with him.  Josh has been getting Frank Oz for over 10 years and they have always had a great relationship. The story you tried to present as facts was made up and passed around by a competitive dealer. Josh is one of the smartest collectors in the business and a huge Star Wars fan. He would never do what the new to the scene dealer made up. It doesn't even make sense and if you believe it, you obviously don't know anything about Josh or RACC.  If I went around on any site badmouthing Steve Cyrkin it wouldn't be a surprise to me if he removed me from this site...i'd actually expect it.

Believe what you want Michael, the Star Wars community knows what happened and that is why he was banned. Many of us have had long relationships with Frank and the cast and crew of Star Wars. I personally approached Frank after the incident to try to fix things and get him to sign privately so that the fans could benefit.

Hiring multiple "chasers", repeatedly pursuing him, removing personalizations and selling autographs that Frank was very clear about not wanting to be sold is what ruined it for everyone. Frank is a very nice person and its a shame people have to take advantage of him just to make a buck. These are all things Josh freely admits to doing multiple times. I'm not saying he was the only problem, but he was most definitely part of the problem.

Smart collectors and fans don't do those things.
