Yes Julie...maybe Paul could award joint custody...I mean weekends would just not be enough! Although, living with you, it would have several brothers and sisters...lol!

Hi,

I have multiple collections so - here is three from "historical":

1) Captain John Prichard of the Cunard Mauretania of 1907 (first man to navigate the channel into NY habor with these huge 790 'vesels), toned silver gelatin official Cunard portrait on double weight stock with lengthy message on the Reverse in Welsh about Pritchard's new appointment (Oct. 1907) to the largest fastest ship in the world until 1927! Far faster then Titanic. 1906, unpublished. Still the record holder - 22 unbroken years fasted sustained ship on the Atlantic. Why? Unique and a great interest of mine- and a personal item (log). The superimposed signature of Pritchard is from a full 1906 log sheet I have when he was bringing over the Carmania earlier (test run for team turbines later on Mauretania). All complainants about "dirty" American anthracite.

2) A hand-tinted photograph - unique candid taken aboard the WSL Adriatic in 1924. It was this ship that brought Millvina Dean back home with her mother and sister. She lost her father. I had some correspondence with her which resulted in this exceptional item. Further, when Titanic's Captain E.J. Smith brought Adriatic over on her Maiden Voyage in 1907, he was interviewed. He said, more or less, "I have never seen a shipwreck, never been shipwrecked, my life at sea has been routine and will not make for a very good story." Why this item - "last survivor, youngest rescued" - always a fascination to me,this tragedy. I had it signed in fine tip Sepia Sharpie to enhance the vintage look.

3) Signed page 1949 1st edition "Hiroshima Scenes"with pasted in real photographs by Yuichiro Sasaki,one of the very first people to start taking photographs that August 6th. Signed in fountain pen by Kiyoshi KIkkawa while still in the Red Cross Hospital (earliest I have seen from him period) in Hiroshima. One of the most famous survivors, Kikkawa spent his life helping others, working on getting the Gnebaku Dome preserved and visiting Hibakusha that wouldn't travel.

Those are very interesting especially the Prichard photograph and signature. My father and his battalion went over on second Mauretania when it was used as a troop transport during World War II.

Sorry, Paul. But for me, it has to be four. If I had four children, I couldn't just pick three and let the other one die! So my four begins with my Babe Ruth signed baseball. Without hesitation, it's the one I would save first! Babe Ruth was the first American sports superstar. He transcended sports, though. From the 1920s to the end of the 1940s, Babe Ruth WAS America. He was the most famous and beloved American easily for over 30 years. A poll was taken back in the 2000s asking Americans who was the most famous non-President in American history. The top two named were Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley! My next three are in a three-way tie: my JFK signed book, my Michael Jackson signed Thriller LP, and of course, my Prince signed poster!

Babe Ruth even appeared at the 1939/40 New York World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, Queens, to give lessons and sign baseball "camp" certificates for kids at the Sports Academy building - thees are highly sought documents.

Yes, I saw one of the programs from that World's Fair that was authentically signed by Babe Ruth as well as two other dignitaries whom I can't remember. It was up for sale on eBay for about $3000 I think...maybe $3500. But I think that was a pretty good price really.
