For me, it would be either September 18, 1970, the day that Jimi passed, or August 9, 1995, when Jerry Garcia left this earth. In both cases, thankfully, the music lives on and on.
For me it was August 27, 1990 with the passing of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Being a teenager in the 90's dealing with the angst of youth! Let's see. The Seattle suicides were common or overdose. We had Cobain , Cornell , Stanley, wood, Weiland ( diff state) Shannon hoon.
So despite of all those sorry souls that were self inflicted and the list rolls on like a scroll.

I may or may not be in the minority but June 2009...the death of Michael Jackson. He defined and also redefined music in so many ways.

1994..Cobain during my last year of high school and headed to college.
Yeah same for me. Brandon Lee also died within a week of Kurt which was a depressing time. Music and television both lost 2 young talents that would have impacted the industry for decades forward.
