Just wanting to share a special evening with this forum... and an autograph obtained. My family & I went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner tonight... towards the end of our meal, I notice a WW2 vet pass by in his scooter & the back of his jacket reads Pearl Harbor Survivor. Right off the bat, I'm mesmerized. Come to find out he had just finished a book signing at Barnes & Noble & I am sitting next to Navy Lt. Jim Downing. A friend of his at the table started telling me his story & im immediately showing tears in my eyes. His aide asked if I'd like an autograph & I was like ABSOLUTELY. I asked if they would mind if I went and purchased his book at Barnes & Noble to have him sign it for me & she said they had sold out. She must have seen the disappointment in my eye & replied "I have some in my car, would you like soft or hardback?" HARDBACK if it's not much trouble I replied! She brought it back & he signed it for me. I'm on cloud nine & this may be one of my favorite autographs in my collection now! I'm still amazed at his condition & it's humbled me to imagine what this man experienced in his lifetime.

Never Ever forget what our soldiers go through & have gone through... I'll forever cherish this in my collection & will always appreciate any soldier. God Bless them all...

Off to read my new book, HAPPY AUTOGRAPH COLLECTING!

God bless Americas fighting men. Its nice to think the world is all love luck and lollipops and everything can be solved with protesting, but we wouldn't be here without superior firepower.

+1

Nice story about the book but let's stay away from politics.

Yes, I can see why somebody from Switzerland might want to remain neutral.

Great story and experience. Thanks for sharing. Let these heroes know how treasured they are while we still can.

couldnt agree more steve

It is amazing that he is doing so good.  My father would be over 100 and he served in World War II and was in the Guards in the 1930s.  So few of them left today it is always an honor to meet one.

It is amazing to me that within 10 years or so these brave and noble men who fought to save our world will all only be gone, however must and will always be remembered.

Thank you for sharing this.
