Yeah, I remember hearing about how Grad tried to imply he attended the prestigious Ivy League school Columbia University when in fact he attended Columbia College - Chicago and didn’t even graduate from there. And yes, he “learned” the business from model citizen Bill Maestro.

I do not know anything about the education claims, but slamming Steve Grad due to an old connection with Maestro is unfair. Half the hobby had some association with Maestro back in the day because he was one of the top auction houses. To my knowledge, Maestro's troubles were related to shill bidding -- not authenticity issues. So, I don't see how the old connection has anything to do with Steve's authentication skills.
The video takes one example of a retracted Lindbergh authentication and uses that as the basis for calling him a "fraud." Ridiculous.
We are all human and all make mistakes. None of us would want to be judged based on occasional mistakes versus the sum total of our work.
I think the video is a trashy hit piece and is a good example of the worst of the Internet - reckless, unbalanced and unfair with no accountability.

I agree but you could say the same here I have seen sellers regularly trashed on this site for a couple of suspect items in an inventory of 100s or even 1000s of good items

All dealers are human and have made mistakes. No one should be trashed for an occasional mistake made in good faith -- especially when the misstep is swiftly addressed.
That said, my observation here is the dealers typically getting pounded on this site are the usual suspects selling endless quantities of mass-produced fakes. Or dealers who seemingly have too many "mistakes" and/or those who stubbornly refuse to respectfully accept credible feedback.

There are too many so-called collectors who have no problem going after the good guys in the hobby because there is no fear of retribution, but those same people don't dare write/say anything critical about the bad guys in the hobby who will, or might inflict damage.

The thing that gets me is there's no formal training to be a tpa's anyone can set themselves up as one if you have enough sheep to follow you.

No such things as credentials. That’s a myth. You either have experience or you don’t. Almost all self study. There is no college class or trade school that teaches autographs.
im no Steve Grad fan but more for personal reasons but let’s be realistic. He is no Drew Max. He does know autographs. I do question if his expertise is as vast as what he’s willing to take a check to make opinions on but even I have to take him over the rest of the options available.
