Hello all.  This is up for auction and purportedly the consignee is a former Doors photographer who was given this by Ray Manzarek.  Would highly value opinions!

It's a damn shame the book is in rough shape. Cover chipped ,cracked, severely detaching from binding. I'm also not buying the provenance. Nevertheless, it's a great sig.

Just like many other items from that era they need restoration

How valuable is the book? This is one of those cases where the autograph alone is so big, bold and nicely signed that I'd mount it with a first generation photo.

Could be done with the book still attached?

An unsigned copy of AAP in good condition is about $2k in itself.

You could cut the page out and frame it.

I could not.

That would be tragic.  The book could certainly be framed intact in a nice shadow box.

I like Eric’s idea of finding a way to frame it and keep the book intact. Granted it will be open for years but it looks like it it’s in pretty rough shape as is.

Keeping the book intact and storing it behind a mat for display purposes is quite doable. And recommended in this case.

For some reason, the Hard Rock framed an open, unsigned copy of this book together with a closed, signed copy of his book The New Creatures.

Who's the photographer that owned this?
