I agree, they look concerning, the DiMaggio most of all, but I'm not familiar with examples of their autographs from the last few years of their lives. Are you?

If any members can help, please do.

Bear in mind that these signatures are on a 16x20 photo. Signatures sometimes get a bit distorted when a signer is signing "bigger" than typical.

Good point, Steve. I didn't look at the size. They aren't clearly bad to me, but I also understand why IIG is concerned.

Certainly not prime examples, but I think PSA and JSA got it right.

Not all authentic autographs are created equal. :-)

Can anyone find a "Ted" that looks that way? Size doesn't affect these because they signed thousands of 16x20s. Ali may be fine, but DiMaggio is a bit off unless it was one of the "Deathbed" varieties (if you don't know about the "Deathbed Balls", look into it) and Ted is horrible, even for a post-stroke version. I thought this photo would be a good for a laugh. Does anyone else see what I mean?

Yes, I do see it and your concerns do not seem frivolous to me. And of course, taking into account that being a major auction house does give them a blanket sway and a nod factor on iffy pieces that otherwise would not be readily green lighted.

The DiMaggio is definitely authentic.

The Ted looks strange to me.

the whole thing looks strange to me.  If I saw that Dimaggio alone, I could stretch the limits and say it could be authentic, but with the crappy Williams next to it, I question the entire piece.  But that is just an opinion.  I certainly wouldnt want it in my collection, I don't care who authenticated it.

I'm not that familiar with later Joe D's but I don't see a letter in that Williams that I like!

This.  +1   I agree with Terrier and Ian. Stand alone, the Joe D., not that bad. But next to that Ted Williams from an alternate reality, the whole thing appears strange.

And me.
