The same thing thing happened to me with this book. I ordered it from the US site around March of last year. It was OOS when I ordered. It came back into stock 3-4 times over the next 8 months, but they never shipped it. I got one of the emails asking me to update the order to make sure I still wanted it, but when I would update the order, it wouldn't update at all on my account. Called customer service, who assured me it would ship. Finally, in November, I got an email saying my order was canceled. The price when I ordered was around $260. I legitimately think Amazon just didn't want to take the loss and honor theor price. Odd though, because I've never seen that happen with any other product.
My first order was pushed back multiple times and then cancelled, despite purchasing it very early. The second order for a much better price was also pushed back multiple times. Then in November , I received a cancellation email from Amazon indicating it was no longer in stock.
Have you bothered again? I have, but I’m concerned that they’ve taken the money up front this time, yet delivery seems just as vague as ever.
Yeah I did, but now, after reading the comments below regarding no signatures, I think I am going to cancel.
Buyer beware on the US Amazon books. I finally received my copy today (original purchase date was 9-10-22 for $426 w/tax) and NO SIGNATURES. Apparently some little weasel has carefully cut out the signature page and returned it to Mr Bezos. Lucky me. I also have another order being delivered February 12th and I imagine it too will be one page short. Best of luck.
Did your book come sealed?
I remember when these first started showing up cheap on Amazon we discussed the seal being different from the 1st shipment. I have noticed some have small defects (insert page not aligned, wrong use of color on the cover, stuff like that). Therefore I suspect these are all returns.
These might even be going in circles since your postage date was so far back. Until someone finally decides to keep it as is without checking.
It was "sealed" inside a large, loose, clear, generic looking plastic bag with a upc sticker on the outside of it. Inside of that was just the slipcase containing the deluxe edition book. Inside the book where the 2nd page would've been you can actually see jagged tearing up close to the binding, it's rather noticeable with a quick look. I'll probably get the same book back when my other order ships out in February. Good stuff.
Could you try to contact Amazon and explain what happened? It’s definitely possible they will issue you a refund.
Definitely will be getting ahold of Amazon tomorrow, it shouldn't be too much of an issue to return it. I just wanted to make others aware as I think they just had it in stock again on the US site.
I am glad you alerted us. I got very lucky around this time last year and scored one for just over $300 and it had the signed page. I do remember it being a concern that those sold then could had been returns and people here were concerned of the signature page possibly being removed but it seemed those that purchased them during that round all had the signed page that chose to open them.
I am so sorry to hear someone cut out the signed page and returned it to Amazon only to have you (and probably others) buy it and be ripped off. Definitely everyone that buys these needs to open them up and verify the signed page is there. I hope Amazon rights this and refunds anyone that gets a book without the signed page.
Glad I could help. The actual slip case w/the book wasn't even sealed, it was just placed inside a large plastic bag that was 2-3 times as big as the book itself. Looked like someone was bagging groceries and they threw a used book in with it. Nothing really sealed on mine. Hopefully others fare better.
