Chuck Yeager, seventh printing hardcover of his self-titled biography, unearthed from a Goodwill. Almost put this back on the shelf because I thought (initially) it was fake, though an online check seemed to check out with the styling. I'm thinking the inscription is an older one more reminiscent of the late 80s/early 90s (when the book was released), as other examples I found don't both seem to bother with the cursive styling.
I'm not familiar with the inscription style, but at first glance the signature looks good. I got more than my share of replies from CY back in the day.
That's a solid Goodwill score!
Agree. I definitely think it looks good. Congrats!
That was my thought too -- but for the price, I certainly can't complain. It was one of those no-brainer gambles like the Aldrin book I picked up last year. That Goodwill I bought this at seems to get shipments of books/a disproportionately-high number of signed books that came from the States. It would require a much larger topic to discuss (basically the ins-and-outs of thrift store warehouses and shipping patterns).
The other Goodwill I visit has, within the past couple years, been my greatest source of finds -- it's where I found the signed Farley/Spade, signed Thatcher and a signed Dryden, among many others.
Very cool. Congrats! I thought he was no longer signing autographs.
That's right, but he's human so I guess it depends on environment, his mood, how approachable you are etc.
Can I ask what you guys do with these things?
Do they end up in a drawer or do you frame and display them?
I was first to the stage. He raised a finger and said,"one," looked me right in the eye (I'm still buzzing!), took it, signed it, handed it back, waved and walked off stage. When I turned around, there were a few dozen people holding Abbey Roads, White albums and RAMs. I think my choice of that Beatlemania-starting single really stood out. Nancy gave me a nice smile, too. And Al, I definitely will frame this.
That's awesome man, it would look great with a jet black mount and frame, all acid free of course :)
