Hey all. I sent my baseball to LTD enterprises to get signed by Yogi. I was happy with the service, and I got my ball back yesterday. When I opened the package I found my baseball in a condition other than how I sent it to them. I invested a lot in making sure the ball got there safe and paid $100 to ensure it would be signed.
Here is the "before" picture (before I sent it to them and it got signed)
After pictures:
The white discoloration and dings were not on the ball when I sent it to them. I am pretty disappointed, but I am not sure what to do.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Im not sure. I wish I knew. IF anything, however, the league markings were already faded that they didn't need to do that. Vin Scully signed right on top of another marking on the ball. And that didnt need to be scratched off; plus, the logo wasn't even as faded as this league marking!
Does it look like they were rubbing a spot for him to sign and then moved to another spot? It is weird though.
How old is the ball and how long did it take to get the ball back? The culprit appears to be oxidation. This type of thing usually occurs around the seams of the baseball but it seems to have affected the entire ball for some reason. Was anything ever used to remove writing from that particular part of the ball? There appears to have been something written there at one time. I am also curious about the other signatures. Whose are they and when were they signed? I have no explanation for the "dings".
DUDE i would be so upset but I mean really what can you do Shake down on of the Greatest Catchers to ever play the game...
Exactly. If anything I'd rather have him do it then someone else. The thing is, I'm thinking it was damaged when they put the ball back in the case. It is a cube that is smaller than the ultra pro ones. You have to be real gentle or else you could "Scratch" the ball. Sort of what It looks like here.
Hey guys. I got the ball back in two weeks. Im not sure if it is accidental; it looks as if the entire area where yogi was supposed to sign has either the white color or some sort of ding or scratch.
I am frustrated because The "whiting" or scratch-like damage touched on the N in Nolan Ryan and pretty darn close to the Dimaggio.
Does the baseball have to be "rubbed" before they sign? Because they shouldve realized an older ball like this would peel and turn colors. Even the Nolan Ryan has a little damage by the "N".
The ball was the same brownish color throughout the ball before I sent it in. In other words, there wasn't any patches of white like there is over that area.
The writing that was/is below Yogi's signature was the ball's logo (ie the president of the american league of the time) but it faded so I figured I would add a signature or two in that area.
I suspect it is a William Harridge ball, not sure when exactly they were made. The other signatures on the ball are: Nolan Ryan, Ernie Banks, Koufax, Duke Snider, Willie Mays, Mantle, Dimaggio, Vin Scully, Holy cow harry, and mel allen. Signed probably around the 80s/90s maybe even some in the early 2000s.
Im not a very "picky" person, I wouldnt have minded if there was a couple dings here or there; I'm just mad that this "damage" has compromised such a large portion of the area and even affected a signature or two that was already there.
I am also really angry how they stickered the ball.....Any way I can remove it safely?...what a nightmare.
No it doesnt need to be rubbed. I've just seen players do that before for whatever reason. Was all I could think of.
I'd actually like it though. Gives the ball a memory though. ""Yogi screwed up my baseball". I'd still display it.
Haha, that is certainly a positive outlook on it..Rather him than someone like Reggie..
Anyway, I'm sure if it was done by Yogi, it was done without malice. Can't really bash anyone but it is just annoying since I paid $100 plus $40 insurance to get the ball there. Tried my best to keep it in tact.
I was thinking: Before this whole incident, I was planning on having someone sign below Yogi (either Whitey Ford or Johnny Bench)
Maybe I could have them sign above the scratched/whitened area to sort of hide the damage?
I didn't want the ball stickered, but if I can't safely remove it, maybe Ill send it in to JSA/psa and have them put the sticker above the one they put on. If you can't beat them, join them I guess.
S*** whitey ford would keep the ball your money and probably cuss ya out.
I know from experience...lol
