Why don't more music collectors use the TTM option?
As a collector of music autographs, I will always try the in person route first should there be something in my area I would have access too. Next would be purchasing through the artist direct or pre-sale signed CD’s to support the artist and the 3rd will be through the mail (or email) contacting the musician or manager directly. I have had many great and rewarding successes through the mail and find my chances of receiving authentic signatures much higher than “trusting” a story with a COA from a seller I don’t know (even if the graph looks really good) based on my own research.
What I have found is that “most” musicians will not use a stamp, autopen, use a secretary or send a preprint, they will either sign your item or bin it. It seems collectors of Hollywood, sports, politics etc… are at a much higher risk of receiving back something fake so I don’t bother and don’t consider it a real option.
Like I had said above, I have had some amazing success (or luck) this way but it seems more music collectors take the 3rd party purchase route. Do any other music collectors that are on this site use the mail as a viable collecting tool? What are some of your top graphs you received?

Just wondering what you typically send to get signed (picture, cd, etc)? Also, where do you usually send to -venue, record company, or personal address?

I send my requests through the artists or bands manager or management company and to venues. I never tried sending through the record label but I would imagine that could work well too. I do not like sending to personal addresses out of respect for privacy and have only done it twice but i did get a pretty amazing name in rock that way. Normally I just do photos but have sent CD booklets, get most back but have lost a few : (

I actually tried that for a lesser known heavy metal band that I wanted to see in concert but sold out because tickets were cheap. I sent a cd insert to the venue and was happy to find that they did send it back signed with a note as well. That was the first time I've tried it but didn't know how well it work for more popular artists. This is encouraging! Do you have a favorite from your collection?
