Family dynamics have always made for interesting topics of conversation.  Like most families, mine is not absent from such topics.  One thing that I am very pleased about is my recent reconnection with my brother.  I have not seen him for many years.  The reasons are not important.  What is important is that we have seen each other more this summer than ever before.

My brother visited with his family for the first time in August.  Imagine my surprise when he told me that he is also an autograph collector.

”I can’t believe how much we have in common!” he said.  “I have been collecting autographs for years.  Don Mattingly...Phil Rizzuto...all of my favorite Yankees!”

We discussed our shared hobby all day.  Although we have both attended many sports memorabilia conventions over the years, my brother had never attended a comic convention.  I suggested that we should absolutely attend one with his sons as soon as possible.  Before he and his family left that evening, I gave him a pair of cufflinks and a ring that once belonged to our grandfather.  We promised to see each other again soon.

Ten days later, it was my turn to visit.  I admired his autograph collection as much as he had admired mine.  I am still amazed that the two of us share the same interest in collecting autographs.  Before my wife and I left that evening, he gave me a gift.  It was a Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta autographed Pulp Fiction photo.  I absolutely love it, and I have since visited my local frame shop.  The gift is too meaningful to keep stored away.  It will proudly be displayed on my wall.  I cannot wait to see the finished product.

The Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta autographed Pulp Fiction photo that my brother gave to me as a gift.  I absolutely love it.

I look forward to attending an autograph event with my brother as soon as possible.  Who would ever have imagined that a desire for collecting autographs would turn out to be something in our genes?  I certainly never did.

great story Mike.  Family is above all, the most important thing. Even more important than autographs!  :)

Thanks, Rob.  Regarding the story, we were discussing films that we enjoy, and I mentioned Pulp Fiction.  I also mentioned that Samuel L. Jackson is a Star Wars actor.  He asked John Travolta to sign the photo for him, and sent it to a private signing for Samuel L. Jackson to complete it.  It was already part of his collection when he gave it to me.  I received a call from the framer today.  I hope to pick it up on Tuesday.

you did use the right cardboard collors and that gives the photo more power ''it looks like samuel and john can walk any minute into your room''... i use in 90% of mine frames that special extra's and that is a engraved plaque and yours deserves that to. love it !.
