Man O Manning. eBay seller McCluster_authentic is blowing out Peyton Manning forgeries with Steiner Sports holograms but no Coa cards.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Peyton-Manning-Autographed-Signed-Authentic...

With the Super Bowl less than a week away it is time for the forgers to come out in full force with the forgeries. This forgery is listed for sale by eBay seller McCluster_authentic , The only problem is this is far from Authentic and there is no way this is a Steiner Sports authentic item. This seller has sold 106 Peyton Manning items in the last month and has 6 listed right now. If you read the listing he states "This was from a private signing and no coa card was issued with it but just the Iron Clad Steiner sports hologram as pictured".  Pure Bull.

Guy sold over 40,000 dollars worth of forged materials based on all the solds, if materials cost him (The cost of helmets, roughly 5,000-10,000 guy made a years living off other peoples money. Just crazy i understand when a bad autograph slips through the cracks but theres clearly bad intent here.

How is he getting the holograms? Maybe someone should report to Steiner.

99% of legit Steiner certified auctions will show the certificate that comes with it, interesting that all of these magically just have the holo sticker...

I contacted Steiner, they said with no COA, don't trust it.

That is pretty disturbing. To me this indicates there is a strong probability of counterfeit Steiner holograms and by itself, the hologram is not safe. First, in many cases the Steiner COA card is lost and all an owner has left is the hologram. Going back to the earlier days of Steiner, they ONLY had the hologram. There was no COA card issued. So, does this mean all the earlier Steiner hologram items are suspect now?

Why is Steiner not protecting their brand and going after counterfeiters aggressively? Through VERO Steiner could wipe out every single one of these auctions if they were so inclined.

Steiner needs to wake up and start using serial numbered holograms... and FAST. Otherwise, they are going to see their brand value significantly devalued and consumer confidence plummet.

I've been in contact with Steiner and they are working on getting this taken care of. I will let everyone know what the outcome is once I hear from them. It is being taken care of though.

Good work, Jason. Please keep us updated.

I said the same thing.  I cant believe steiner of all places does not have a way to match up holograms/items to specific COA or LOA.

I bought a couple of manning photos. They have a hologram obviously but the coa card just had peyton manning autograph stamped on it.... Thats it hahah. I was like this is just down right LAZY

Here's the update from Steiner Sports.

I spoke with my contact at Steiner again and he told me that all of these Peyton Manning items that this seller was blowing out were in fact forgeries and they took the appropriate actions with eBay and the sellers sold items were all cancelled and the buyers were contacted by eBay but beyond that he couldn't get into all of the details between steiner and ebay. He did tell me that eBay shut his account down which is a good thing.

I asked if the Steiner Holograms that were being used were in fact Steiner Holograms or knockoffs and he couldn't confirm nor deny without actually seeing it in person. I asked why they haven't gone to a numbering system yet for the holograms and he did state its something they're working on but again would not get into details but did say that any item that has a Steiner Hologram ALWAYS comes with a coa some may have a barcode and others will just have the signers name and "autographs" so for example a Peyton Manning coa card would say "Peyton Manning Autograph" on the coa card. He mentioned that they may be times that you'll see an multi signed item with no hologram but a coa card the cases that this happens is if there is a multi signed piece that for example was signed by 3 players at another signing around the country, another collectors show etc that Steiner was not a part of and then was signed by another player at the Steiner store of my mailing it in. In cases like this they will not put a hologram on the item but will still issue a coa card.

So for a better example if you have a Core Four item signed by Mo, Posada and Pettitte that were obtained someplace other than a Steiner signing and then you mail the item in to have Jeter sign it they will issue a Jeter coa card but not affix the Steiner Hologram to the item. Hopefully I explained this clear enough because I was confused for a minute when it was explained to me.

I then asked if there was any truth to the Eli story reported yesterday and was told it is all under investigation. I was gonna be a smart A** and say by who the FBI but I figured I'd leave it alone.
