I would like to know about everyones experiences on items that celebs will not sign or pens that celbs will not sign with. For instance Chad smith (drummer for red hot chili peppers and chickenfoot) the nicest guy in the world if you hand him a black sharpie but if you hand him blue he totally changes. Also Cher I have seen her walk over to a person start to sign and see it is a blue sharpie and turn around and walk away. Or like Eddie Van Halen will not sign anything already signed by Sammy Hagar or Ryan Howard does not like to sign Bats in person only if you pay him, or Emmit Smith will not sign anything Florida because his MOM sells it in her store. IN fact Emmit usually will sign a Baseball hat or a piece of paper. I have seen that on many occasions, but nothing else. These are just a few that I know but I bet other people on here will have more and it will help us when we go out to meet a celebrity in person, so that we do not give them the wrong item or pen and blow an oppurtunity of a lifetime. I will never forget I was waiting on Isiah Thomas when he coached the Pacers and he walked out and said I do not sign basketballs. If I would have known that ahead of time I would have got a sports illustrated signed and not the back of my business card. By the way that is the only Isiah I have in my collection to this day! Thanks and I cant wait to here all the stories. KEEP GRAPHIN!!!!!!

I had an experience about a year ago that was actually more of a helpful tip, rather than a "no sign" with a different color Sharpie. I went to see the stage production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" starring Ted Neeley (who also starred in the 1970s film). I had purchased a poster at the show and was able to get backstage to meet Ted. The poster is rather dark so I handed Ted my silver Sharpie, thinking the silver would stand out more on the dark background. Ted asked me if I would prefer him using the silver, or if it was okay to use a black Sharpie, instead. He explained to me that he found the silver Sharpies tend to smear. Remembering that that had happened on a photo of me with the "Lost In Space" cast taken in Oct. 2008 (signed by the cast members), I allowed Ted to use a black Sharpie instead.

I guess when I met William Shatner last year I was having all of the Star Trek greats sign my Enterprise Blueprint. I didn't have any problems but I had several people afterwards actually comment that they didn'y think he would sign that because at the time he had some animosity toward the Star Trek people because they didn't ask him to make an appearance in the new movie.

Probably because at his first panel at the show that was all he whined about was hoe he couldn't believe they would stab him in the back like that and have Leonard Nimoy in the movie and not him and he went on and on and ooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn endlessly ranting. I believe people finally started getting up and just walking out.

So far I haven't had anyone actually say they wouldn't sign something. I have had people warn me that someone might no sign something but unless th person says something or their handler says that they will only sign the item they are promoting which I fully understand they are trying to sell books or whatever and don't want to spend a lot of time signing other items not related.

In my opinion if you had a Top Ten of celebrity ego's, Willie Billie Shatner would have all ten spots (okay, maybe just nine). All that changes when he gets paid for that signature. Then he signs anything. I will give Shatner credit for selling signed autographs on his website (lone brownie point), outside of that. he's a worm.

Great topic! Harry Carry, what an A$$, didn't like talking to folks, didn't want to sign, even for a kid. He really let me down after a game, it's not like there was a mob of people around him, we were up stairs in the press box...
Remember when Upper Deck first started their exclusive contracts with Baseball "Stars" in the late 80's, Reggie Jackson turned me down, it was either at Oakland or SF, anyway, he said I can't sign anything I'm under contract, there was maybe 5 of us, and he wasn't even nice about it.
Now, here's even the best one, Barry Bonds, king of mean, rude sob's, this jerk reluctantly did an interview with us when he first signed with SF, we are in the locker room after a game, he's taking a shower, he comes over to us with a towel on, says two word sentences and scowls the whole time. There's not many people I don't ask for a Graph, but he was one of them..! One more person I didn't ask, Tiger Woods at Pebble 10-15 years ago, I can honestly say I've never never liked this guy after meeting him. He talks down to everyone and his handlers are just as bad, Money does not make you a better person or make you a man, he is neither!

Kenny Loggins told me he prefers to not use my gold paint pen because "it is not a biodegradable pen". I told him I can totally agree, but what else am I to do when his photo has no light areas within it. He said that was a valid point and would "keep that in mind in future photographs".

Another habit that ticks me off, is the SLOPPY sig's that many of these stars have that is actually how they sign (not talking a rushed sig, but their normal sloppy unreadable sig). If they didn't sign on their photo, you would have no idea who they are. Ugggggggg!!!

The only "no sign" experience I have ever had was Hall of Fame pitcher, Don Sutton last baseball season. I had a picture that was not official MLB merchandise, and he would not sign it.However this season during the Braves Publix signings before Spring Training, he signed some baseball cards I had with no problem. Moral of the story, when getting Sutton, make it Official MLB stuff.

here are other guys who wont sign licensed photos, harold baines, rod carew and rod gilbert,i remember when he was in minnesota for the all star game and signed 1 photo and then said he would not be signing any unlicensed products, so he wouldnt sign pucks either.
sammy hagar wouldnt sign in blue for me about a week ago however i did get him on 5 things in black
santana wont sign period if you get him consider yourself lucky
there are a lot of guys who think you are going to sell it to make a profit so if you ask them to personalize it you have a better chance of getting the autograph.for example today i went down for anthony daniels aka c3po from star wars and he said im not gonig to sign i then said well we cant buy stuff of your website it says you only sign in person i then told he he could personalize it and he couldnt have been nicer after that
another guy who actually asked me for my id was willis reed in order to sign a basketball, after i gave him my id he was cracking jokes and patting us on the back strange man
