That was the year internet bookselling took off, pretty much and I believe they were all gone within 12 months - all to the U.S. as I remember. The last 2 or 3 copies were fetching £250 - you would do well to get that now."

With the very notable exceptions of Stephen King and Cormac McCarthy I believe I have personally obtained in-person autographs from the vast majority of the most prominent authors of the past 30 years including winners of the Nobel prize for literature. Many of these encounters have been the most fascinating or memorable experiences in my working life and I feel privileged to have had them.
