"That's true. Machine-folded was the standard practice for pre-80's posters (and some from the early 80's). It is not considered a defect, unless the fold lines show some wear, have crossfold chips, or are separating. Sometimes you can…"

"Wow! Well that's the story with most and their vintage cards. My father used to tell me about all the Mantles and Maris' he had as a kid. They were the star players so what do young kids with them? They stick them on the spokes of their…"

"Please tell me if I’m wrong, but if I remember correctly, posters used to be shipped, I guess from manufacturers to either retail stores or individuals, in a manner in which the posters were machine-folded.  This was prior to the 1980s, I…"

"Oops, I mentioned earlier that mine was a 27" x 40" One-Sheet, which is wrong. As Daniel pointed out, newer one-sheets are that size, mine is 27" x 41." I've been dealing with these newer ones recently and I got that size on…"

"Prior to the mid 80’s, 27” x 41” was the standard one sheet movie poster size.  In the mid 80’s, this changed to 27” x 40”.  The three sheet movie posters are the huge ones at 41” x 81”.…"

"Sounds like your father was a wise man when it came to the proper care of his and your collectibles.  Gosh, that poster must be massive at 27x40.  I have a Prince signed poster that’s about 24x36, and it’s pretty damn large.…"

"Thanks! Yeah, my father kept this bad boy framed securely and locked away in one of his closets. I've known about it for years but I never saw it until now. We'd go to sports shows and see one of these posters for sale and he'd always…"

"I think most Mantle collectors will know it’s authentic.  Like Terrier said, it’s on a highly desirable item.  The poster alone is a nice piece of history.  I’ll up the sports curator’s bid to $300.  What…"

About Me

What kind of member are you? (Check as many as apply.)
Collector, Fan, Dealer, Professional In-Person Collector
What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.
My father had a movie memorabilia business for about fifty years. He would often meet celebrities and get an autograph inscribed to me. I loved looking at them and, after some years in law enforcement, decided to devote some time, money, and effort in going out and actively collecting on my own! I attend shows, premieres, events, whatever I can to meet as many people as possible.
What is your level of expertise?
Advanced Collector, Long Time Lover
Why do you want to join Autograph Live?
My father left me some great sports autographs in his estate, but I'm unsure about authenticity as my history has been with Hollywood signatures. I also love the idea of having a forum to talk about my passion and get help when needed.
Who can we thank for telling you about us?
Google? I found you online!
What are your areas of interest?
Modern Hollywood and Stage, SciFi, Horror
Why do you collect?
Autographs, Movie Posters & Lobby Cards
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
My signed Selena (the slain Tejano star) poster from 1989, that I got in-person when I was working production at one of her concerts.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
John Lennon
