Loved reading his book Kitchen Confidential, one of the best I’ve ever read!

Really sad to hear these news.

So tragic!  He sounded like he was a very good man.  I feel so sorry for his young daughter.

He was a very popular figure, much more so than I ever knew.  It appears as though he had quite a loyal following.  With no intention of making light of anyone’s passing, I’m always interested to see how many people decide suddenly they must have the autograph of a recently-deceased person.  I can’t say that I’ve never felt that urgency because I have.

I went on eBay to see if people were buying his autographs, and sure enough they were.  Someone paid $400 for a signed copy of his book Kitchen Confidential.  Many Bourdain autographs sold on eBay today with several in the range of $200-$400.

I can never understand how a celeb with money, fame and a young child find it that hard to go on with life (yeah,I know despair, mental illness). So sad. To be frank as far as the autograph is concerned, there is not a worse time to buy. In a year or so the price will plummet.

I know what you’re saying.  Robin Williams’s daughter said, “I’ll never understand how someone who was so beloved by millions of people could feel so alone.”  She still loved her dad, but just had trouble coming to grips with what had happened.  And likewise, Anthony Bourdain seemingly had it all.  It sounded like he was a really nice, caring man.  It is very hard to understand.  I’m sure he had enough money to retire very comfortably if he had wanted to.  You would think that his 11yo daughter would have been enough to prevent him from doing this.  As for the autographs, yes, this is the worst time to buy one of his.
