One of the last greats from the old days :( I liked him in so many things but Lust for Life was great Wish I could have seen him originate the role of MacMurphy in Cuckoo's Nest on B'dway.

Was he around in the golden era of Hollywood?

Close enough for me - 90 films from 1946 on including the classic Spartacus.

Kirk was a wonderful actor and even a better human being. There are not many like him in today's world. Sleep well.

Certainly a sad day.  What a terrific actor.  Too many great movies (Spartacus, Seven Days In May, Gunfight Ok Corral, etc) to name one.

RIP.

I just heard. Yes, Joe, not many like him...today or ever.

He is clearly a legendary actor in Hollywood, one of the biggest names ever imo.  And his son would go on to become quite the Hollywood figure himself.  Kirk Douglas was a towering figure. May he Rest In Peace.
