I'd posted this Johnny Cash on here a few weeks ago and a few liked it.

Looked decent to me too, so I bought it.

Ran into Chicago today to have Beckett authenticate some stuff, and took the Cash.

They deemed it 'not authentic'. The rejection letter said JOHN CANDY. I pointed this out and asked if the authenticator simply wrote the wrong name or didn't know the difference between a Country Singer and a Comedian? Lol.  They took it back for another look, than brought the photo out and said it wasn't good. I asked for the rejection letter and was told it'd be sent to me. I explained I'd prefer to have it now so I can return. Nope. How is it I was given the 'John Candy' and couldn't have a Cash one? On top of that, I had several vintage Hollywood pieces rejected that I bought from a well respected dealer (approved of on here). Plus several items I had signed in-person.  Gets frustrating.  I really hate having to use TPA's, but need to for things I might sell.  Sorry to ramble... needed to vent.  LOL

Thoughts??

Oh wait...   sure...  I see how they could confuse it....

Upon first glance, that signature looks good. I'd keep soliciting opinions here.

Thanks Jim.

I'm definitely not an expert and really appreciate everyone's help.

Not going to jump the gun and send it back yet.

I have no opinion, but if you want a second opinion on the Cash, use Roger Epperson's email opinion service.

Thanks Steve.

I'll take your advice... scan it and send to Roger.

I believe this was not signed by Johnny Cash.

I submitted to Roger.

Received his opinion:  This is secretarial

That answers that.

Okay, I shouldn't have been so rough on Beckett, but the

John Candy rejection letter had me questioning their opinion. Lol

Thanks again for all your help!!

they do look kinda similar but the photo is obviously not Candy, which makes me think that the authenticator is a computer and not a person?

What does it say on the rejection letter as to why it was deemed not authentic?

Jelly -  It was an in-person submission. At this point, considering Roger's opinion, I will assume that they knew it was Johnny Cash, but accidentally wrote John Candy on it. They took that back, but I kept a pic.

The 'Johnny Cash' rejection letter is being sent in the mail.

Ballroom -

It's the typical generic letter. Doesn't explain why. If they felt it was secretarial, they should state so.

I'll post image from one, assuming it's okay.  They're all the same style with the date and name (covered).
