Which forwarding company do you use can I ask ? I use viabox and just had 4 taylor swift cds delivered to my American address and they want $101 to ship to the UK??

That’s a rip-off. Do they consolidate the items into 1 package or is your quote for 4 shipments?

I use MyUS to ship from the US to the UK, but Taylor won’t ship to MyUS because it’s a known forwarding address.

You pay a monthly fee and depending on your plan a small fee per package to consolidate the items, but shipping a couple of CDs is nowhere near that much.

That’s crazy money sorry to here that man

Jesus, that's daylight robbery! I use Stackry and have for years, no problem so far even with the cheapest forwarding option (around 20 USD for a small light parcel). Make sure you declare a value of less than 20 USD per shipment so it clears customs quicker. The key is patience as it takes 3-4 weeks at the moment and also accepting a potential risk of loss.

I second Dan, i've used Stackry for years too - they Lost a T Shirt Once but hey ho! I've never had to pay any customs charges with them ever and orders arrive within 2-3 weeks via DHL.

US to UK - You should try Stackry - they would charge £12 for one CD about £20 for 4 CDs and £13.00 for a 12" LP and they consolidate orders and keep items in your box for a month - so you can combine orders over a longer period of time. I've used them a lot.

Here is a photo of my art card. Just got it moments ago via DHL - $38 bones to ship to me from Forwardvia - U.K. to Minnesota.

I Think I need to start a mail forwarding Business! The UK Post office charge £10.00/$14.00  to ship a CD or 7" single Tracked to the US....

Interestingly My US to UK Stackry Shipments also always come via DHL - so you are being ripped off totally!

Let me know and I'll be happy to be your first customer.
Royal mail cost 12£ for tracked shipping here (NL) while forwardvia shipping cost 25£ + other fees (and I'm pretty sure that forwardvia also gets a discount in shipping cost)

I might register to forwardvia, as it's free, but I'm in doubt I will be willing to pay so much extra on any item. It will have to be very special (10£ CD will cost me at least 40£) !

Forwardvia is worthwhile from a financial point of view if several orders arrive there within 30 days and you instruct Forwardvia to combine the orders into one package (for a small extra charge per product). This will give you a slightly higher shipping price for the one package (due to the total weight). Then when you convert the shipping price to the individual products, it is often worth it, and so far they have always done their job (on my orders) very well. That is at least my experience. In the end, you have to weigh up for yourself whether it is already worth paying the fees if you can order a special product for it that you can't get otherwise in the normal way.

Don't forget VAT and import either. Since a couple of months us in the EU have to pay VAT on all packages no matter the value. The handling costs are the killer here. Even if you would declare a €1 value (around €0,20 VAT), you'd have to pay anywhere between €4 to €13 handling costs depending on the shipper and method of payment.

An envelope with a CD might slip through as regular mail, but in my experience most if not all bigger packages go through customs.

This and the shipping costs make it only worthwhile if it's a really rare item or when you buy a lot of items that are delivered within 30 days.

Agree 100%.
Double VAT 20% in UK + 21% NL

plus at least an extra week waiting for the item.
