As the PSA homepage states..."With over 19 million collectibles certified and valued over $1 billion, PSA represents the industry standard in third-party authentication and grading. From 1999 to the present, PSA has averaged over 1,000,000 submissions per year!"
NO SH*T!
Here's just a small collection of PSA JSA "authenticated" Lady Gaga signatures that simply have to be seen to be believed. Don't worry, although I DO have a Gaga signed in-person during her appearance here in Perth, Western Australia a short while ago you WON'T need to know her real signature... just enjoy the abominations below. BOTH companies will simply put their name to ANYTHING (keeps 'em comin' back)!! A very sad state of things to come.
PSA "authenticated" Lady Gaga 2 - $499.00

PSA "authenticated" Lady Gaga 3 - $479.00 (The exact same item is also available from another seller ... FOR LESS!)

PSA "authenticated" Lady Gaga 4 - $454.38 (The exact same item is also available from seller above)

* Now, considering the following is an excerpt from JSA's homepage: "Our experts are extremely familiar with the many different variations and evolution of an individual's signature and can quickly identify irregularities evident in a clubhouse, secretarial, or a forged signature.
Second, our experts closely examine each and every component and letter of an autograph, paying close attention to characteristics such as signature flow, style, spontaneity, letter angle, side-by-side comparisons, object evaluation, etc."
As they say, pay close attention to signature flow, slant etc... for even more fun, put them side by side.
JSA "authenticated" Lady Gaga - $399

JSA "authenticated" Lady Gaga - $1,299.00

A TOTAL INDUSTRY JOKE... (and a great money tree!)
There really is a sucker born every minute. How can the industry take these idiots SERIOUSLY?? Anyone?

I have gotten Gaga in person 3 times and they are all different, in fact one was just a 'L'. I cant see how anyone can know a real one from a fake one.
I think there are many instances on ebay of them slapping their stickers on autographs that are so poor that it would be impossible to deem authentic or fake without considering the source. It's one of the big reasons I don't send items to PSA and often skip over items with their sticker when I'm looking for an item.
Never understood the "squigglies" 3rd party verification -vs- the 1st party verification obtainment with the latter being more acceptable depending on who the inperson grapher is.
but speaking of two of the examples above with one on EBAY & the other on hollywoodmemorabilia.com. They are the same and most likely the same seller with PSA/DNA #S80841. Hollywoodmemorabilia.com reminds me of Sportsmemorabilia.com with having "affiliate" images.
BTW...this is the one Lady Gaga autograph of all the mentioned autographs which could really be deemed authentic as it resembles her "signature" quite well.
Have to admit that I´m no expert, though.
Hi there,
Not sure if anyone will see this reply, but, I'd just like to thank everyone who did take the time to reply to my thread. Much appreciated. I don't get a great deal of time to read everything or see the replies immediately and being on the other side of the planet it really does help to get feedback.
This is NOT an attack on said company, BUT, it certainly seems (and this is just one instance) where companies seem to be simply filling their coffers while possibly causing damage to the hobby/trade and injecting the market with absolute rubbish. Some of us are only rarely able to get in-person signatures (due to geographic location) and I'd guess many would RELY on authentication by so-called professionals to do their job. It would seem to me, that if you are UNSURE of a signature, simply do not "authenticate" it. That way, you keep your ethics intact and leave it to the discretion of the autograph owner instead. When a company starts to turn out thousands of authenticated signatures weekly, the machine it has become often leads to assumption, overconfidence and unreliability. I'm not even going to mention the possibility of conflict of interest if ANY staff/authenticators are also dealing in the same celebrities themselves. That is simply ASKING for manipulation of the prices and/or rarity of autographs. He who controls the spice, controls the universe. ; )
Anyway, thanks guys. Much appreciated.
P.S. The German bloke who asked for a digital image of my Gaga signature to compare with his, please be patient. I'll post as soon as I get more time. And "DB"... I agree, the Gaga signature you mentioned IS pretty much the same as mine. Ta.
Michael
