I have had this item in my collection for several years now. I bought it from a private party who "alleged" that their "uncle had been a NYC cab driver for many years and had collected a number of celebrity autographs". At first, I was somewhat skeptical because I was mistakenly comparing John's autographs from the 1960's where he signed with a rounded-type "J". It wasn't until I found some examples from the latter part of his life that I became more optimistic. Just recently, on this site, there was posted an album cover with a very similar signature. I would be very interested to hear some opinions. Thank you.

The Lennon does not look good at all to me.

Thanks Mark for your time and your opinion. I'm going to attach the examples that I was using for my comparison. I was somewhat optimistic because when I did a character-by-character analysis I did not see any major inconsistencies that  might not be inconceivable in a signature that was hurriedly written while exiting a cab. Incidently, the signed check is going for $8500.00 Thanks again

Sorry, but it doesn't look good to me either.

Thank you for your opinion. Please refer to the attachment I made in my reply to Mark Peterson.

In my opinion, it doesn't compare favorably to the authentic examples that you've posted, and there's no resemblance to any other John signature that I've ever seen. The shape is completely off. The stop and start after the second "n" in "Lennon" is very telling too. Sorry again.

Both are off

Thanks for your time and opinion Dan. Please refer to my reply to Mark Peterson and view the attachment. You might understand why I had a ray of optimism. John's signature went through a number of changes through the years. Thanks again.

Lennon's signature did go thru changes, but I have never seen one like this.  too many angles, and the size of the letters is off.  J is way off.

I agree, first time i see one like that ...
