I just bought this off of ebay about two weeks ago. I have been studying Beatles autographs for over 20 years and figured they were just about the best ones I've ever seen on a fan club card so I just got the seller to end early and sell to me. Now that I have it, it is pristine. That scares me. The ink is aged and autographs are perfect, perhaps too perfect? Back story is they were signed for a still photographer from ABC tv in NYC during Feb 64 trip. They seem to date to that period, Roger signed off on them, but I can't get Perry or Tracks to return emails regarding COAs for it. I was going to send it in to PSA/DNA but I was wondering what everyone thought on here. The back has 4 black paper marks where it was taken out of a scrapbook. Otherwise, mint condition.
I wish I had your eyes FB. I see nothing with the normal enlargement.
The signatures really are a miracle in terms of placement. John and George miss their own heads by a whisker, Ringo kindly misses John's head, and Paul misses his own head and Ringo's signature too (more or less). Like Steve says the ink is remarkably uniform too.
It's a tricky one. I would say whoever authenticates it should physically inspect it.
If you look above the "T" in "The Official.." you can see a little bit of the Harrison's "H." It's faint, for sure. But, if you look very carefully, you can make it out.
Have you thought about sending to PSA? They inspect in person so that should help a lot. May be worth the money as I've noticed many Beatles signatures that come with a PSA cert tend to do well at certain auction houses. It eliminates a lot of collector's fears to get that cert. (Even though they are far from perfect).
I agree. With something like this, I probably need multiple COAs. I will get one from Roger and PSA for good measure. None of the top three dealers seem to do COAs on items they're not selling anymore. That's a bummer. If this is authentic, it deserves some recognition. I've never seen a better one. Add to the fact that it was signed in NYC during the Ed Sullivan trip and its pretty awesome.
Also, its in two different pens. Ringo's is a darker blue. Is there any other COA I should go for?
JJ, that's a set of Joe Long forgeries.
