Yes, great deals can still be found on eBay. Recently (on Halloween actually), an authentic JFK signed letter on White House stationery was let go for a Best Offer price of less than $279.99. The seller said he found it in a box of books and papers that he bought at an estate sale. He said he did not know if it was authentic or not and did not have anyone look at it before listing it. Big mistake. I'm very confident that it's authentic. It's not secretarial or autopen. There's only one caveat. Some fool had this great piece of history LAMINATED! I'm not sure what that does to the value. Does anyone know?
Regardless, this would be a great piece to have for a presidential collector, knowing that it's a real JFK signed while he was President of the United States. If it weren't laminated, I think it would be around a $3000 piece, maybe more if it were in better condition. The seller really should have researched it more rather than just going for some quick cash. I mean a real JFK White House letter listed for $279.99 BUY IT NOW. Seriously?
However, since the letter was laminated, it may actually have rendered the piece worthless. I don't know.
Of course, you're welcome to chime in and disagree if you think the signature is not authentic, but I really think it is.
