Hi all,
Looking at this in an auction. I have read the Mantle thread but I can’t decide if this is authentic or not. I lean yes but I am far from an expert on this signature. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Charlei

not authentic

Thanks guys. That is why I asked. May I ask what tipped you off? It wasn’t the milky mautle.

nothing tipped me off.  its an obvious forgery.

It must be. I have only seen these incidentally and that one time I tried to get my physician one he wanted, and you helped me there as I recall Terrier, but even I could see this is problematic.

Thanks Terrier. I meant no disrespect with the tipping you off comment.i found a Larry Rosenbaum topic on Mantle and saw the level of the M in Mantle is on the same plane as Mickey and the loops in the m’s are also off. I am learning as I go. Thanks again for your input.

no problem.  When I first started looking at Mantles, I made the mistake of trying to do a technical evaluation and I failed at it.  I was given some great advice by two of the contributors to this site and it worked for me.  I just look at the signature (after studying known authentic examples in depth) and the forgeries just stand out.  no technical evaluation is required.

Thanks. I am an engineer so technical is what I default to. I usually try to look at authentic and then the one I am looking at but I default to a technical analysis. I will try it the way you learned. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

That is an obvious forgery.

In my opinion, there is nothing technical about opining autographs.

This one is pretty bad.
