Hi all,

I'd like to buy a surfboard which is allegedly signed by Bruce Springsteen. It seems weird he would sign a board, but if it's real, that would be cool. The board is selling pretty cheap - $350 at this stage.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Qamar,

I think I'd pass on it. Here's Springsteen's autograph and a little handwriting:

I pass too.

Not so weird. He's a huge surfer. I like it mucho. 5 years too late I guess.

Consider yourself lucky.

Why? It looks good to me. Hard to imagine someone would forge not only his signature but also the handwriting of the inscription to match his actual handwriting -- especially on a surf board -- and then inscribe it to the name of a shop that's located just a few miles away from Bruce's house in Wellington, Florida.

He loves to surf. He's always surfing in NJ as well.

pass

If you want a professional opinion may I suggest Roger Epperson. He provides quick opinions for $15. This is a unique item and possibly this is why the signature is quite a bit different than his usual.

At first glance it looks good to me. The "B" in BRUCE looks a bit "off" but I think that is because of the slick nature of a surfboard and what it does to a sharpie. A forger probably would not inscribe it as that makes it worth alot less -- plus surfboards aren't cheap.

Yup, you're right. The "B" is off... I assumed it was a slip up, too.

The rest is really solid though.

Not a signature I know and I'm not commenting on authenticity one way or the other... but one thing to bear in mind...

Sometimes when signing an over-sized item and writing much larger than usual, the signature may be atypical.

Just realized this is a 5 year old post that got restarted because of a recent comment and put to the top of the list!

I can see this being real with his smaller lettering and the Guitar sketch looking good. The signature is a little older. I wonder what it sold for?
