Just noticed this as I was about to make a bid on Ebay:
|List of approved authentication companies|
Pre-certified autograph companies:
1) how did Beckett get "approved" so quickly, yet SGC is not.
2) how is GFA NOT on the banned list?
Obviously Beckett got on the list because of Steve Grad. I'm no fan of TPAs, but that guy knows how to market himself. People seem to think he walks on water. Several promoters I follow who have used PSA for decades at their public and private signing have all moved to Beckett. It seems like he has taken an awful lot of business away from PSA.
no doubt his name carries clout. But I have seen some recently certed BAS items that were not correct.
I've seen some very questionable rock and roll stuff certed by SGC. Don't know who their guy is for that but they should stick to sports.
I haven't paid attention to any of SGC's authentication other than sports, and I believe they do a very good job at that.
Banned sellers/COAs list should be a mile long.
Alot of the banned people are from the Operation Bullpen sting -- but that was years ago -- they need to update that list and add a bunch more crooks.
Any improvement by ebay is most welcome, but it could do a lot more with its resources.
I would agree if it was a younger/smaller company. But they're an enormous powerhouse who most certainly either do have the resources or could if they tried. Since they have the ability to turn a blind eye and say "caveat emptor" while raking in huge wads of cash. They're an accomplice to the crime, in my view.
How the heck is Stephen Rocchi and his Guaranteed Forensic Authenticators (GFA) group not on the banned list!!!!
Good question! I wonder if there is way we (members on this site) can lobby Ebay to add GFA?
Maybe if they get enough emails?
