Ebay Seller D-W-51 Lists Forged Derek Jeter 1996 Leaf Signature Card

For the last year I have been exposing various forged/counterfeit cards of Derek Jeter, Willie Mays, Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas and others.

Immediately below are links to some of those threads.

Now check out the below forged Derek Jeter "1996 Leaf Signature" card that I just discovered on EBay listed by Ebay seller D-W-51.

First I want to post an example of an authentic Derek Jeter "1996 Leaf Signature" autograph card.

Clearly the below is an obvious forgery.

I have not yet examined the card enough to ascertain as to whether it is a counterfeit card, but how else would a forged Derek Jeter end up on a "1996 Leaf Signature" card.

Now please note the below.

Below is a side-by-side comparison of the forged Jeter "1996 Leaf" and the forged/counterfeit Derek Jeter "1995 Upper Deck" card.

I have no doubt they were penned by the same moron.

Below is a side-by-side comparison of an authentic Jeter "1996 Leaf" and the forged Jeter "1996 Leaf."

The forged Jeter is on the left and the authentic Jeter on the right.

Now check this out.

Some of the same sellers who have been selling various forged/counterfeit cards, are also selling the below so-called "Bankruptcy" cards, or are they counterfeit cards?

Where are these originating from!!!!

You can click your mouse on the below image to get a closer view.

Below is one of the sellers (Ebay seller Daniecarchi-0) who has been selling various forged/counterfeit cards.

I will be looking further into this!!!

Sellers like D-W-51 have made eBay a thieves market for autographs. There are a good number of trustworthy sellers on eBay but unless you really know what you're doing, finding them is way too hard.

For sure, Steve.

I was shocked when I observed that particular card with a Derek Jeter forgery.

I bought and sold a few of the bankruptcy cards and I do think they're genuine.  I've compared the hologram over and over with the hologram on common player cards from the 1996 leaf signature extended series set (cards that no one would fake).  The hologram is exactly the same and reflects light the same way too.  It's also affixed perfectly.  It doesn't seem possible to me that it could have been made by anyone other than Leaf.

We appreciate that info, LM.

Thank you.
